Mrs. D. R. Scott
Final rites were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 8, 1952, at the Wesley Street Methodist Church in Greenville for Mrs. D. R. Scott, well-known Greenville resident and sister of Mrs. O. O. Pinkerton of Celeste who died Sunday, December 7, 1952, at 8:40 AM in a Greenville hospital. Mrs. Scott made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Garland Trotter of Greenville. She had been in failing health for the past several months.
Services were conducted by the Rev. John Morphis, pastor of the Wesley Church, the Rev. G. B. Bailey of Wolfe City, and the Rev. Boyd DeVore of Dallas. Burial was in the East Mount Cemetery at Greenville.
Pallbearers were Hal Ellis, L. B. Mills, Lester Vaden, Ples Brown, Roy Cherry, and Punk Slemmons.
Mrs. Scott, a native of Hunt County, was born in the Kingston community on June 30, 1884, the daughter of J. O. Duncan and Dixie Crowder Duncan. She was married to Mr. Scott on February 10, 1901, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1949.
Early in life, Mrs. Scott united with the Methodist Church, and at the time of her death her membership was in Wesley Church. She took an active part in it programs as long as her health permitted.
Survivors in addition to the sister, Mrs. Pinkerton, include these children: Roy Scott of Lubbock, Joe Scott and Robert Scott of Greenville,
A. W. Scott of McKinney, B. W. Scott of Wolfe City, Mrs. Garland Trotter of Greenville, Mrs. Clyde Hogue and Mrs. Bert Perrin of Dallas, Mrs. Brown Cherry of Garland and Mrs. Earl Jones of Budington, Germany; four sisters; twenty-three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
