S. E. Hackney
S. E. Hackney, 80. long a citizen of the Merit section, died Monday, June 13, 1938, at the home of his son, Frank Hackney, northeast of Greenville.
A native of Virginia, Mr. Hackney came to Texas and settled in the Merit community in 1902, where he lived until 1934, when he came to make his home with his son, following the death of his wife.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and made a useful citizen and was a splendid farmer up to time of his retirement.
He is survived by four children: Mrs. Nora Richardson, Honaker, Virginia; Mrs. Maud Fraser, Terrell; Mrs. Blanche Anderson, Liberal, Kansas; and Frank Hackney, RR 1, Greenville.
Burial was made on Tuesday, June 14, 1938, in McWright Cemetery.
