Stanley Thomas Ball, 72, of Greenville, died Dec. 29, 2006 at his residence. Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Shaddox officiating. Burial will take place at Shady Grove Cemetery.
Ball was born Nov. 8, 1934 in Carrollton, Ky., to William Thomas Ball and Mary Nancy Carlton. He married Joyce M. Kelley on Aug. 8, 1953 in Carrollton, Ky.
Ball was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a systems analyst for Raytheon for 33 years before retiring in 1996, and was a former instructor in information systems at East Texas State University. He was also a member of Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Ball of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Jerry Owens of Royse City; son and daughter-in-law, Russell Thomas and Suk Ball of Anchorage, AK.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tina Ball of Greenville; son, Jon S. Ball of Greenville; six grandchildren: Abigail Marie Ball, Cassidy Ann Ball, Jacob Thomas Ball, Rikki Evans, Jamie Evans, and Crystal Evans; and one great-grandchild, Tae Evans. He was proceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jane Hendren. Pallbearers will be Bill Sheppeard, Ron Clark, Matt Rozell, Mike Hendricks, Jim Bryant and Bob Galloway. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Stovall, Gary Barnes, James Hamilton, David Williams and Loyd Gene Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made to Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church, Citizens Home Health Care and Vista Care Hospice.
