Dick Strader
A memorial service honoring the life of Dick Strader, 61, who died July 8, 2008, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Austin-Peel and Son Funeral home, I-35 and Hwy. 183, in Austin. Chad Strader, nephew of the deceased and worship pastor at River Pointe Church in Sugar Land, will officiate.Mr. Strader was born in Greenville on Sept. 14, 1946, son of Joe Winfield and Catherine Strader, and was an Austin resident most of his adult life. He graduated from Greenville High School and earned a communications degree from the University of Texas. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1966 following a tour in Germany.Mr. Strader was an employee of the State of Texas for many years in a variety of positions and most recently had been employed by the Lower Colorado River Authority. He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include one sister, Carol Winans and husband Howard of Greenville; two brothers, Gene Strader and wife Charlotte of Sugar Land and Jerry Strader and wife Karen of Colleyville; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be made to the Bob Bullock Museum in Austin or MD Anderson Children’s Art Project in Houston.For online condolences go to austinpeel.com
