R.H. Strickland Passes Away at Daughter’s Home
Richard H. Strickland, 48, died this morning at 9:30 o’clock following a month’s illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dip Cannon, east of Boles Home.
Funeral services are announced for Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Dixon church with Rev. W.O. Majors, pastor of Lamar Baptist church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Etter Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Delton Cannon, Theo Chandler, Neal Mullins, Hubert Cotton, Pete Langford and Floyd Ausburne. Neer and Ly-Brand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cannon[Strickland] was born March 2, 1895 near Dixon and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Strickland. He was married to Miss Ethel Stover in 1914 who preceded him in death three years ago.
As a member of the Sunset Methodist church for the past 12 years, Mr. Strickland had been a leader in the church program and in the affairs of the community.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Dip Cannon, Quinlan, R.F.D.; Mrs. R.L. Wolfe, Dallas; Basil, Lois, Billie Hugh and Morris Eugene Strickland of Greenville.
