Ted H. Peters (T-Boy), 62, of Plano, formerly of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Medical Center of Plano. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Aldersgate Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville with Mr. Randy Daw officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mr. Peters was born on December 30, 1943, in Greenville, Texas, to Joe Becton and Teddie Rose Hopkins Peters. He married Fonda Lynn Carter on June 3, 1966, in Greenville, Texas. He was the executive director of Heritage Farmstead Museum in Plano. He grew up attending Central Christian Church in Greenville. He was a member of Aldersgate Church in Greenville.
Mr. Peters was a member of the Board of Regents for East Texas State University from 1985-1991; director of The Seywyn School in Denton, Texas, 1986 –1988; member of the Executive Board for North Central Texas Council of Governments, 1978-1980, president of the Greenville Industrial Development Fund, Inc.; secretary of the Greenville Hospital District, 1975-1980; and foreman of the Hunt County Grand Jury in 1978.
He was the director of the East Texas State University Foundation; chairman of the St. Paul Episcopal School Building Program; chairman of the Greenville YMCA Building Program in 1986; chairman of the Tawakoni District Boy Scouts of America; assistance scoutmaster of Troop 316-National Eagle Scout Association and was an Eagle Scout Leader; member of the Hunt County Juvenile Board; and YMCA Girls Softball Coach, 1977-1982. He was also a member of the Rotary Club in Plano, Texas, and received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Plano Rotary Club 2005. He was the author of the History of Christian Church, The Peters Family History and Western Belt Buckles (in production). He enjoyed photography and genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Fonda Lynn Peters of Plano, formerly of Greenville; mother Teddie Rose Peters of Greenville, son and wife Andrew and Kelly Peters of Greenville; daughter Amy Teigh Peters-Bull of Sachse; granddaughters Karley Peters of Greenville and Kylee Teigh Bull of Plano; brothers and wives, Jim and Terry Peters of Rockwall and Newman and Charla Peters of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; and a faithful companion, Maddie, his beloved border collie.
He is preceded in death by his father and father-in-law, Truman Carter, and mother-in-law, Irene Carter. Pallbearers are Lee Clark, Erik Emmerson, Rex Evans, Chris Fugitt, James Goodman, Harry Hudson, Farrell Nalls and Steve Ramsey. Honorary Pallbearers are John Henson, Buddy Massay and Tom Oliver.
