Thora Olivia Standifer Dicken
Thora Olivia “Sis” Dicken, 91, of Merit died the evening of August 29, 2007, at her residence. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Merit Cemetery with Chaplin Paul McKay officiating.
Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville.
The daughter of Emmitt Jackson Standifer and Clifford Augusta Robinson Standifer, she was born May 2, 1916, in Merit. On June 20, 1936, she was married to William Robert Dicken in Greenville.
Mrs. Dicken was a seamstress for Haggar Pants Manufacturing Company and was a hairdresser at Inez Gray’s. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Dicken and Susie Dicken of Merit and Dwayne Dicken and Susan Dicken of Merit; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Kim Morton Rhoden, Lisa Morton Wolfe, Kyle Morton, Gary Gibson, Bill Gibson, and Dale Gibson, all Celeste graduates.
Her parents, husband, one grandson, six brothers, and five sisters preceded her in death.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
