John B. Tucker

John B. Tucker, 75, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jeff Murrell, in the Valley Creek community, at 7:30 Saturday morning. Mr. Tucker had gone to the Murrell home and had driven into the yard and died before he could get out of the car.

Deceased was a native of Columbus, Mississippi, having been born on October 15, 1859. He came to Texas at the age of nine, locating with his parents in this community and has lived here since.

He was married to Amelia Ann Chadwell and to his union were four children: Fred Tucker, Mrs. Jeff Murrell, Mrs. Bill Steele of Leonard, and Mrs. R. L. Cline of Forth Worth. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Della Tucker and Mrs. Alice Hunt of the White Rock community, and twenty-six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

John Tucker was a member of one of the oldest families in this community and was endowed with the indomitable spirit of the pioneer. He was a good man and an honest man whose counsel was sought and freely given, and his death leaves a place in the community that will not soon be filled.
