Ulysses Grant Roach
Ulysses Roach passed away at his home, 705 East College Street, Sunday afternoon. Funeral was at the chapel of Anderson-Clayton Brothers at 3:00 PM Monday afternoon with the Rev. W. M. Mix, former pastor of the First Christian Church conducting. Burial followed at Oakland Memorial Park with Masonic service. Active pallbearers were fellow lodge men. Honorary pallbearers were officers and employees of the Terrell State Hospital and friends of the family.
Native of Adamsville, Tennessee, he was born April 20,1864. Mr. Roach came to Texas at eleven years of age. He was educated in public schools of Celeste and attended college at Old Savoy. After having taught school a number of years, he was Postmaster under four US Presidents. Then he came to Terrell around 1916 and was connected with Terrell State Hospital and retired after an active life spanning three-quarters of a century.
Mr. Roach was a lifelong member of First Christian Church.

Ulysses Grant Roach
Terrell, Texas, Aug. 28--Funeral services were held here for Ulysses Grant Roach, 77, who served as Postmaster at Celeste under the administration of four Presidents, and former employee at the Terrell State Hospital here. The Rev. W. W. Mix officiated and Masonic rites were exemplified at the grave.
Mr. Roach was born in Adamsville, Tennessee, and was brought to Texas by his parents when he was eleven. The family settled just west of Celeste in Hunt County. After completing his education at old Savoy College, Roach taught school several years. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Ide Reisor of Kingston: three sons, S. M. Roach and W. F. (Bill) Roach, both of Terrell; and Glenn Roach of Palestine; two brothers, J. F. Roach and Felix Roach, both of Celeste; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Ellard and Mrs. Lena Yeager of San Antonio, and four grandchildren.
