Dr. Upton George SAYLE
Private funeral services for Dr. Upton George SAYLE, 31, who died of gunshot wounds inflicted "by person or persons unknown," according to a coroner's inquest, will be held at his office on Bonham and Arp Streets here at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Reverend Joseph M. Connally of the First Methodist Church will conduct the funeral and interment will be held in the Sullivan cemetery at Campbell.
Dr. Sayle, who had been a resident of Commerce his entire life and a member of the First Methodist Church since early childhood, had been engaged in the practice of optometry here for about a year. He attended the public schools of Commerce and graduated from Commerce High School in 1927. He attended East Texas State Teachers College for about two years, later working as a brakeman on the Illinois Railway lines for a number of years.
He then entered Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he completed an optometry course, setting up practice here with his brother, Dr. Frank SAYLE, in June, 1940.
Pallbearers for the funeral will be Dr. Frank SAYLE, Frank R. CAMPBELL, J. D. BYOUS, Emmett O'NEIL, A. B. CRANFORD, and U. E. OLIVER.
The deceased is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George SAYLE; a brother Dr. Frank SAYLE; Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. CAMPBELL, his uncle and aunt; and Dr. Upton GILES, New Orleans, R. SAYLE, Commerce, Homer SAYLE, Commerce; all uncles, and Mrs. Tom SAYLE, an aunt residing in Commerce.
