Virgie Mae “Dee” Satterwhite, 94, of Tyler died Oct. 15, 2006, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville. The daughter of Jim Peaton and Sudie Parish, she was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Hopkins County. She was married to Earnest W. Stroupe who preceded her in death. On Dec. 21, 1941, she was married to Wilburn A. Satterwhite in Arkadelphia, Ark.; he died in 1988. Mrs. Satterwhite was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Seymour. Mrs. Satterwhite is survived by two grandsons and wives, Jimmy and Kathy of Arp and their sons, Bobby and Brandon Stroupe, and Dr. Earnest W. and Jarvie Stroupe of Arp and their sons Seth, Sam and MacKenzie Stroupe; granddaughter and husband Deborah Sue and John Slater of Tyler; great-grandchildren Misty and husband Scott Herod, Holly and Aaron Schomerus and Kyle Smith; a sister, Opal White of Greenville; sisters-in-law Lou Satterwhite and Elva Tapp of Greenville and Grace Sampson of Canyon; nephews and wives John and Kathleen Williams, James and Joyce White and Donald and Emanda Johnson; nieces and husbands Sue and Joe Hicks and Diane and Tim Harris; nieces and nephews Jimmy David Satterwhite and family, Richard and Sandy Satterwhite, Jerry Satterwhite and family, Robert Satterwhite and family, Burl Lockmiller and family, Billy Glen Tapp and wife; Bob and Bill Sampson, Larry McCorkle and family and Pam McCorkle and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son, Bobby Joe Stroupe, a brother, Jimmy Peaton; and two sisters, Stella Williams and Lucille “Lou” Peaton. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
