Funeral services for W.H. “Bill” Bates, 76, of Keller, Texas, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 2, 2007, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. David Hawkins officiating.
Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Bates died Dec. 31, 2006, at 2:51 p.m., in Select Specialty Hospital in Carrollton. He was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Attapulgus, Ga., to James Henry Bates and Vashti McCullough. He married Linda Sue Weaver on Dec. 24, 1965, in Denison. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Raytheon as a quality control manager (S.A.M. Fleet). He was a Baptist.
Survivors are two sons, James Bates of Mililani, Hawaii, and Craig Bates of Dallas; three daughters, Michelle Durham of Keller, Kathy Luckett of Merit and Betty Ellen Loughray of Mesquite; two brothers, Hugh Bates of Milton, Fla., and Edwin Bates of Havanah, Fla., a sister, Martha Ann Leslie of Albany, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife on July 23, 1975.
