COMMERCE — Willie Lee Tucker, 84, of Commerce, died Aug. 26, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Brother David Gibson officiating. Burial follows at Rosemound Cemetery. Born Sept. 1, 1921, in Jardin, he was the son of William Henry and Annie Lee Tucker. He married Mary Ruth Stewart on Oct. 7, 1939, in Commerce. Mr. Tucker worked in road construction from 1941 to 1968, then at Texas A&M University-Commerce as security sergeant from 1969 to 1976 and W.Y. Goff Funeral Home from 1970 to 2003. He enjoyed cattle farming.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Brenda Jones and husband Tim of Klondike; a sister, Willie Bell Hyde of Nevada; two grandsons, Kyle Jones of San Diego, Calif., and Robert Jones of Florida; and two great-granddaughters, Haley Marie Jones of Florida and Meagan Aubrey Jones of Commerce. His parents, his adoptive mother and three sisters preceded him in death. Pallbearers are Hoyle Julian, Denver Walker, Ted Alley, Kenneth Ashley, James Speights, Mike Anderson, Gary Anderson, Newman Peters, and Rod Richey. Honorary pallbearers are Allen L. Martin and Don Anderson. Memorials may be made to the Commerce Emergency Corps.
