Mr. and Mrs. Howard Roach, Sr., are the parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Pruitt.
The couple were married before an altar centered with crescent candelabra of bridal tapers and sprays of pale pink gladiola with rose pink satin bows. Spiral candelabra, sprays of greenery, and pink blossoms were placed on both sides of the altar.
Mrs. Marsha Braswell of Commerce sang solo renditions of "The Wedding Prayer" and "Whither Thou Goest" accompanied by Miss Mary Eastwood, organist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown designed by her grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Giles. The empire style gown was fashioned of straight line chiffon over a satin sheath. A short lace jacket with scalloped neckline and elbow length bell sleeves of lace were outlined with seed pearls and iridescent beads. Her chapel length lace train was also outlined in seed pearls and iridescent beads.
The shoulder-length veil of illusion was held by a tiara outlined with seed pearls giving a floral effect. The bride carried a cascade of frenched carnations, stephanotis, and greenery centered with a white orchid.
Miss Alice Roach, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Mike Weatherley, Mrs. David Campbell of Van Alstyne, and Mrs. Gary Wallen of Greenville.
The bride's attendants wore floor-length A-line gowns of pale pink peau de soie of empire design with high necklines. Sashes of hot pink gave contrast to the gowns. They carried single long-stemmed deep pink roses with satin streamers. Their headpieces of pale pink tulle were held by single hot pink roses.
Ronnie Clinton served the groom as best man. Mike Weatherley, Joe Tillerson, and Terry Turner were groomsmen. Ushers were Jackie Pullen of Rockwall and Bill Evans.
Dequita Jo Abernathy was flower girl and David Swindell was ring bearer. Altar taper lighters were Debbie Jayne Abernathy and Dana Jean Abernathy.
The couple will make their home in Lubbock where Mrs. Pruitt will teach in the public school system.
The bride is a 1963 graduate of Celeste High School and East Texas State University. The groom is also a graduate of Celeste High School and Texas A&M University at Bryan. He is a member of Alpha Zeta and Gamma Sigma Delta fraternities. Pruitt will attend graduate school at Texas Technological University at Lubbock.
The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall. The tables were laid in white lace and centered with branched candelabra holding pink tapers.
A five-tier wedding cake decorated with pink wedding bells was served by Mrs. Garvin Pearce of Garland, Mrs. Harold West and Miss Catherine Floyd served punch from a silver service. Miss Ruth Thorp and Miss Jan Pruitt registered the guests.
