George Wesley Witt
George Wesley Witt, 78, died at 12:15 AM Tuesday, February 14, 1967, in a
Greenville nursing home. He had been in failing healthy for several months.
Funeral services were held in the Sorrells & Sons Chapel in Greenville at
3:30 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 1967, with the Rev. Fred Brewer officiating.
Burial was in Webb Hill Cemetery.
Born on February 27, 1888, in Alabama, he came to Texas in 1901 and settled
in the Celeste community. He had been a resident of Greenville for the past
eighteen years.
The son of George L. Witt and Rebecca Bailey Witt, the retired farmer was a
member of the Webb Hill Baptist Church.
He was married to Pina Baumgardner and she survives, along with one son, L.
D. Witt, Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Wood, Odessa, and Mrs. Pansy
Johnson, Greenville; nine grandchildren; three brothers, R. L. Witt, Arizona;
Clarence Witt, Sulphur Springs; John Witt, Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. J. P.
Hudson, Dallas, and Mrs. Jack Hawkins, Fort Worth.
