R. L. (Bob) O'Pry, 90, died at 8:15 AM Tuesday, January 24, 1967, at his
home in the White Rock community, Celeste RR 1. He had been ill about a week.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Wednesday in the White Rock Baptist
Church with the Rev. Elmer Gene Smith and David Taylor officiating.
Burial was in the Webb Hill Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews-
Peters, Greenville. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. O'Pry, a retired farmer, was born on February 6, 1870, in Casida,
Georgia, the son of John O'Pry and Epsie Bush O'Pry. He came to Hunt County in
1885 and had lived in the White Rock area since that time. He was married in
White Rock on March 8, 1908, to Ola Lee Shanks, who preceded him in death on
March 4, 1923.
He is survived by two sons, W. B. O'Pry, White Rock; R. L. O'Pry, Jr.,
Greenville; three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Kennedy, Dallas; Mrs. Loreta Murrell,
Tulia; Mrs. Ammie Carter, Greenville; fourteen grandchildren, a number of
great-grandchildren, and a two great-great-grandchildren, and a number of
nieces and nephews. One son preceded him in death in 1916.
