Zan's parents, on 17 January 1874, bought 180 acres located 9 1/2 miles from Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas for $ 525.00. In October 1879, his father sold the land to his grandfather, George W. Sharp, since he was living in Wood County, Texas at the time. (" The land consisted of 180 acres, and was located about 9 1/2 miles from the city of Rusk, Tx. In October 1879, Robert was living in Wood county, Tx and sold the land to George W. Sharp, his father.") Not only is it thought that Zan's mother was dead by this time, but, Zan's son, Richard, may have been born in Wood Co., TX. His marriage to Dora could have been in Cherokee Co., or, Wood Co. No records or gravesites found at this time.
Dora, Zan's wife, must have left or died. She and the son, Richard, were not with Zan in the 1900 census. He is remarried. (Information is listed on the family group sheet with his new family).

The first wife and son of Zan was not listed in the 1900 census. Instead, he is listed with another wife and more children. Zan and his family must have moved to Henderson Co. sometime prior to 1914.
Zan was accosted and murdered by three men just south of Athens in Henderson Co. "on his way home" (according to newspaper articles). It is stated by family that he was buried in the Athens City(?County) Cemetery. Some of this cemetery land was sold, and his body had to be moved to "Proper Cemetery". There are no records of any sale of any of the cemetery land. Zan's gravesite has not been found at this time. After his death, his wife, Mary, moved back to Kaufman Co.
Mary is said by family to have died around 1927. This was about the time the man who killed Zan was caught and sentenced for the murder.
Ola lived to be over 100 years old. Alonzo and Lonnie were twins. Alonzo lived to almost 100 years old. Last account of Robert T. was in Kaufman Co., probably in or near Peeltown. Pink was shot and died in Ennis, Ellis Co. Sam is said to have burned to death in a house fire in Ellis Co. Pugsey/Pugsie is said to have eaten "crow's bait" (thinking it was wild onions) on a creek bed in or near Peeltown and died after the 1910 census, and before the 1920 census. He and his mother are supposed to be buried in the same cemetery according to family information.
