The "Sheltman Family" cemetery
located near Forney, Texas

I was there last December (1998). It is located on private land (cattle ranch) about 3 miles from the Baptist church in Forney, County Road 209. It's about 1500 yards west of a large brick house with a trailer home. There is a fence that must be scaled. These direction are poor I know, but its the best I could do seeing I'm not from the area and had never been there before.
There is a large tombstone on Jacob Sheltman and Wife Electra Newton Sawyer's graves.
Additionally there is a chain link fence around the plot. It is in good condition considering its age (the grave site that is).
Additionally there are traces of other graves, in very bad condition. Most which are unidentifiable. There are stones which show the following:
Texie Stevenson, wife of W. Stevenson D: Oct. 27 1875, 26 years old.
Walter L. Stevenson Son of T. Stevenson, B: Aug. 29 1874 , D: Oct. 8, 1875. These stones are located about 40 feet SE of Jacob's grave.
A. Newton, D: Aug. 16, 1874. 19 years old.
William Bigham, D:1873, 77 years, 3 months , 4 days old. (Was a Mason according to symbols on stone.)
Stone marked: W.B.N.
There are other stones that are indecipherable, and are scattered all about.
I have collected considerable information about the Sheltman family, but, I'm always on the lookout for additional information. Would welcome queries about Sheltman history. Would gratefully accept corrections and/or criticism. Will supply GEDCOM files on request.
