This was taken from Find-a-grave His father may be named John Grissett. He was born in Natchdoches Parish Louisiana. His first marriage was to Lavenia Perry 1827-1860. They were married 1844 in Miss. They had the following children; 1. Parthena Elizabeth b. 1844 2. Martha Anne b. 1845-1931 3. Eliza M. b. 1849 4. Bird b. 1854 5. Henry b. 1857 Lavinia Perry Grissett died in 1860. 6. William Laningham b. 1859-1915 d. Sept. 24, Leon Co., Jewett, Texas. He moved to Leon County, Texas In about 1863 he then married Mary Amanda Pate Blackledge, a widow with two small children. Together they had the following children; 1. Aphelia b. 1964 (twin) 2. Vadia Ophelia b. 1864 (twin) 3. Ella b. 1866 Leon Co, Texas, married; Henry J, Lambright, Leon Co, Texas 10 Aug 1886. 4. Edna "Ednie" b. 1871 5. Ira b. 1875-1933 6. Annie Lovie b. 1878-1925 He died in 1862 in Flo, Leon County, Texas. I believe him to be buried in Parker Cemetery in Flo, Leon County, Texas, with his wife Mary Amanda although I can find no burial record for him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One day and I think it was during one of the memorial services at Parker Cemetery, my daddy, Emanuel (Edwards grandson) took me to the back of the cemetery along the same line as his mother is buried and putting his hand on a brown sandstone marker told me that was where Edward was buried. It is truly sad that his grave is lost for I feel that he was one of the pioneers of Texas. These stories were told to me by my father Emanuel Gressett and were told to him by Martha Ann Gressett Laningham when he was a small boy.
