S. H. DAVIS DEAD

Mr. S. H. Davis died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe Dickey at Leona, Monday of last week and the sad news did not reach the Meteor until too late for publication last week. Mr. Davis has been suffering from brights disease for several months and the end was not unexpected, however sad just the same.

The editor has known Mr. Davis for nearly forty years, as a friend and neighbor and there were none more hospitable and kind to those in need than he and his good wife were in their lifetime.

We knew them when a boy and after years when we grew to manhood and had a home of our own, they were among our closest neighbors for quite a time and we have always admired "Uncle Sam" as he was familiarly known, as an honorable and upright citizen, friend and neighbor.

Mr. Davis was 78 years old and leaves to mourn his death three daughters and one son: Mrs. Joe Dickey of Leona, Mrs. J. C. Vaughn of Montgomery, Mrs. Jim Hensarling of the Jenkins community of this county and S. N. Davis of Houston.

His remains were carried to Midway and laid to rest beside his faithful wife who had preceded him in death several years ago. Rev. J. B. Davis, pastor of the Methodist Church at Midway conducting the services. The sorrowing friends and relatives have the deepest sympathy of the Meteor and his host of other friends throughout Madison and Leon Counties where he was best known.
