Laura Black Tacker – Died 17 June 2009 – Bowers Funeral Home
Funeral services for Laura Tacker were held on Friday, June 19, 2009, at 2:00p.m. at the Teague Church of Christ. Bro. Benjamin Neely and Bro. John Simmons officiated. Interment followed the services at Union Cemetery near Freestone.
Mrs. Tacker passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab Center in Fairfield. She was born in Russell, TX to Joseph and Nora Cartwright Black on August 1, 1915, and lived almost all of her life in Freestone County. She graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1933. Mrs. Tacker owned and operated Laura’s Beauty Shop in Teague for forty-three years and was a member of the Church of Christ for over seventy-four years. She is survived by three daughters, Jean Terry of Teague, Linda Emmons of Fairfield, and Jo Ann Milton of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Stephen Terry of Tyler, Chadd Burke of Midlothian, Kimberly Reese of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andy Don Emmons of Fairfield, Kris Burke of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Julee Emmons of Frisco; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Burke, Nicholas Burke, and Daylon Reese; her “adopted family”, Scott & Rachel Bossier and children, Bree, Brooke, Britain, & Braden of Fairfield; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Tacker was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Tacker and three son-in-laws, Don Emmons, Beasley Terry, and Frederick Milton.
