Ervin and Matilda Burdette Brown were my 3g-grandparents, so
I am including genealogical info with this; feel free to include it if you wish.
The Brown Family Cemetery is located on Hwy. 14 approximately one mile north of
Kosse in Limestone Co., TX. A historical marker is located on the side of the
road by the cemetery. The cemetery was "lost" for many years and was found by
workers constructing a new highway in the area.

Here is a little more information on the Brown family:
Ervin and Matilda Burdette Brown, both natives of South Carolina, moved to
Limestone County in 1857 from Washington County (TX) and settled at Pillow
Point. Before coming to Texas in 1847, the family lived in Jasper Co., GA.
Elizabeth Frances Brown, their daughter, and her husband, Harrison Bryant, (my
gg-grandparents) moved about the same time and bought land between the Polk and
Brown holdings. This family played an important role in the development of
Texas. T. J. (Thomas Jefferson, son
of Ervin & Matilda) Brown was a one time the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
of Texas; Capt. J. P. (James Petty) Brown was commander of a company of
Limestone volunteers in the Confederate Army (the Eutaw Blues); Ervin F. Brown
was a prominent attorney in North Texas; and one daughter married Zacharia
Morrell, the Baptist historian and early Texas pioneer (Note: this remains
unproven). Ervin and James Petty Brown were members of the Masonic Lodge at
Eutaw (#233), chartered on June 13,
1859. A company known as the Eutaw Blues was organized at Eutaw. It was mustered
into service at Camp Beauregard with Anson F. Moss as Captain and A. H.
McDaniel, J. R. Adams, and J. P. Brown as lieutenants. It became known as Co. K
of the 12th Texas Cavalry. The above information was taken from "A History of
Limestone County" by Ray A. Walter.
