NOTES: William Ira Ware was first married to Frances Ware before 1870 and they had one son, William R. Ware, born Dec 5, 1869 in TX and he died on Dec 1, 1892 and is buried at Longbotham Cemetery, Wortham, TX. He had married Mary Mollie L. MORPHET. They had two boys and a girl, Jesse Louis Ware, Mary F. Ware, and William Thomas Ware. Then William Ira Ware married Louisa J. PRUITT and they had the above children. After Louisa died, William Ira married Mattie TAYLOR on Oct 20, 1883 in Limestone Co. leaving him with his 4 children all under 5 years old. When William Ira Ware died in 1892, records were found in Limestone Co., TX that a Mary Hancock along with her husband, Lewis Ross Hancock, adopted the three children of William Ira & Louisa J. which was on June 28, 1892, six months after William Ira dies, L. R. Hancock and his wife, Mary, adopt Ira M. Ware age 13, Joseph M. Ware age 11, and John W Ware age 10 in Limestone Co., TX. I have since found that L. R. Hancock Sr. was born May 25, 1829 and he died May 21, 1893 and his wife, Mary was born June 15, 1838 and she died March 11, 1895. Both are buried in Hancock Cemetery located one mile west of Mexia, TX on US Hwy 84. We had all the children from census records except we did not know about John W. Ware because he was born after the 1880 census in abt 1882. It is now known that this Mary Hancock was the sister of William Ira Ware which would explain why a 54 year old woman would adopt three young boys. Later records were found in Limestone Co., TX that the children of William Ira and Louisa J. had filed suit on Mattie Taylor Ware trying to gain land that she had taken after William Ira passed away. Also note that William Ira's father James Jefferson Ware lived next door to Joseph Lindley and his wife Ann Lindley in 1850 census Limestone Co., TX dated Oct 9, 1850 Precinct No 1. This Joseph and Ann Lindley were re-interment to the State of Texas cemetery in Austin, TX from Limestone Co. Lindley Cemetery on May 26, 1956. According to Governor Mark White's Proclamation of April 17, 1986 recognizing Col. Lindley's service in the Battle of San Jacinto and the War of 1812. James J.
