MILAM JOE ANDERSON

Milam Joe Anderson, died Monday, September 15, 2008, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on January 13, 1946, in Colorado City, Joe was one of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaines and Loduskie Anderson, brother, Gaines Anderson Jr. and sister, Mattie Lou Clemmer.
Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; one son and daughter-in-law, Chance and Tanya Anderson; five grandchildren, Milam, Hannah, Byron, Justin and Dylan, all of Midland; three brothers, Dale and Liz Anderson of Fort Worth, Phil and Martha Anderson of Colorado City, and Donald and Alice Anderson of Midland; along with nieces and nephews and their families.
Joe and Nancy were married on March 14, 1970, after Joe returned from a two year tour of duty in the Army during the Vietnam War. After he married, Joe attended Western Texas College in Snyder, where he received an associate’s degree in Industrial Arts.
Joe's great passion in life was rodeo. He loved calf roping, steer wrestling and team roping. During his rodeo career, Joe made many friends all over the nation. Not only did Joe enjoy competing in the rodeo circuit, he also enjoyed teaching the sport to anyone who wanted to learn.
Joe's journey through life included jobs ranging from truck driver to ranch hand, to welder and salesman in the oil patch with Key Energy Services after moving to Midland in 1990. He also worked with Xterra Fishing & Rental. Sales were Joe's enterprise. It was during this career that he became an enthusiast of golfing.
Joe was the kind of man who never met a stranger and had friends in most every place he went. He was very giving and generous and would do anything he could to help out a friend. Joe had a warm, giving, outgoing and optimistic
personality and he will be greatly missed by his family and many, many friends.
Service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Colorado City with Pastor Trey Johnson officiating. Visitation with family was held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery.
