December 21, 1961 - February 18, 2024
Dianne Jeanne Bax, 62 died Sunday February 18th, 2024, at her Sweetwater residence with her family by her side. She was born December 21st, 1961, in San Diego, California to parents Richard and Darlene Schrieber. Dianne met Vince Bax (now her husband whom later she married on Dec 15th, 1984) in Yutan, NE. After they married, she spent from 1982-1994 following Vince in the military to such locations as New York, Missouri, Virgina, Oklahoma and Germany while Vince was active duty. Once Vince was no longer active duty, they moved to Sweetwater, Texas to be closer to Dianne's family.
Once moved to Sweetwater, Dianne started her long and wonderful career of working with children at facilities like PPI, JP Cowen, Sweetwater ISD and more. Dianne had a gift with children and their families and considered all of the children she took care of to be her babies. Dianne also loved to help young mothers, new staff and just friends and family with anything and everything she could offer a hand with. Dianne was an avid reader, enjoyed hobbies such as roller skating, needle point, playing cards with family and spending time with her kids/grandkids.
At Dianne's time of death, she and Vince had been married for 39 wonderfully adventurous years. During those 39 years, Vince and Dianne had 5 children, Russell (Rusty) Wayne, Jesse, Zachery, Ashley, and Brittney as well as many grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son Russell (Rusty) Wayne. Dianne is survived by her husband Vince; daughters, Ashley (Tanner) Bax and Brittney; sons, Zachery and Jesse (Abby) Bax; and her six grandchildren.
Dianne was always a warm and welcome place for anyone that was around her. She was considered by most to be a loving, bright and upbeat person with a natural love for teaching and educating young and old individuals and had the biggest heart you have ever seen. As her husband Vince puts it, she was a doll and one-of-a-kind individual. She was the matriarch of our family and will be deeply missed.
Memorial Service will be held on March 3, 2024 at 1:00pm at McCoy Chapel of Memories.

Alzheimer's Request Do not ask me to remember
Don't try to make me understand
Let me rest and know you're with me,
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand
I'm confused beyond your concept
I am sad and sick and lost
All I know is I need you,
To be with me at all cost.
Do not lose your patience with me,
Don't scold or curse or cry
I can't help the way I am acting
I can't be different even if I try.

Born on October 13, 1932, in Vernon, Texas, he was the only child of Sam Houston Hulme and Joe Etta Scott Hulme. Darrell spent his early years in Vernon until the family moved to Colorado City, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1950.
In July 1951, Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Jo Tonn, after her graduation from high school in Colorado City. Their marriage was blessed with two children, and they were married for 54 years until her death in 2005.
In 2008 Darrell found love again and married Jeri (Schleuter) Gray. They enjoyed 12 years together until her death in 2020 following a multi-year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Love found Darrell again in 2021 when he met a lovely widow, Wilma Jo Henderson, at his retirement community in Abilene. They were married in October, 2021. "Mama Jo" was immediately loved by his entire family and was with him when he died.
Darrell began working with numbers immediately following high school and loved the old adage, "Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves." Over the course of his career, he balanced many spreadsheets both for work and for his church before retiring in Dallas as Controller for the Elcor Corporation in February 1992.
No one ever enjoyed retirement more than Darrell. Though he considered himself merely competent at either golf or bridge, he found great joy in both. In fact, Darrell's "somewhat facetious" goal upon retirement was to "play golf all day and bridge all night." There were times he almost made it. He felt very blessed in his life.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Jo; his children Randall H. Hulme (wife Anne) and Sandra L. Drake (husband Bill); five grandchildren, Russell Hulme (wife Amy), Brian Drake (wife Katie), Kyle Hulme (wife Allison), Chad Drake (wife Katie) and Shea King (husband Kyle) along with 15 great-grandchildren.
To anyone who would like to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests it be given to Kinder Hearts Hospice Care, 842 N. Mockingbird, Abilene, TX 79603, Southwest Parkinson's Society, 3610 22nd Street, Suite 300, Lubbock, TX, or a church of your choice.
