Tom Sims Flack was born March 6, 1895, in Hamilton County, Texas.  He was the son of James G. and Cornelia Lancaster Flack.  After the death of his mother, Tom lived with his aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. N. B. Bowie.  He attended Trinity University and John Tarlton Agricultural College, and then came to Sweetwater to take a position at the Continental National Bank.

While employed at the bank, Tom Flack was introduced to Fay Dulaney.  The two began to go on outings with her brother, Jim Dulaney, and Lucille Snell.  After a series of picnics and parties, the two were married on October 23, 1915.

Tom worked for the Texas & Pacific Coal and Oil Company, and then worked in the sales department of Gulf Oil Company.  In addition to this, the couple had a cattle ranch north of town.  Tom was a member of both the Texas and American Hereford Associations, and served terms as both secretary and president of the Sweetwater Area Hereford Association.  He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and the Rotary Club, and he was a Mason.  He also served as an area representative for the Cattlemen’s Roundup for Crippled Children to benefit the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.  He died August 7, 1968.

Annie Fay Dulaney was born March 21, 1896, in Sweetwater.  She was the daughter of Jefferson Davis & Louella Parker Dulaney.  She was a graduate of Sweetwater’s Newman High School.  After her marriage to Tom Flack, she became a member of the Sorosis Club and the Missionary Society of the First Methodist Church.  When an old building at the church was torn down, Fay saved the stained glass from the windows and had a new window made which is in the Fellowship Hall of the present church.  She was a charter member of the Book Review Club and worked toward the organization of the County-City Library.  She died February 4, 1983.

Fay and Tom were parents of one daughter, Louise, who was born January 13, 1921.  She married Dr. J. Wells Young, Jr. in 1946.  Their children are Gay Y. Thomas, Thomas Flack Young and James Wells Young III.

June Wells Young, Jr. was born July 6, 1913, the son of Dr. and Mrs. June Wells Young of Roscoe.  He graduated from Roscoe High School and McMurry College and received his degree in dentistry from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  After serving as a naval officer, June returned to Roscoe to practice dentistry at Young Hospital.

Louise Flack was the daughter of Tom and Fay Dulaney Flack.  Her maternal grandparents were among the first settlers in Nolan County.  She was born January 13, 1921 in Sweetwater.  Louise received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French in 1941 from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

June and Louise married June 30, 1946, at the home of her parents in Sweetwater.  The Sweetwater Reporter heralded this marriage as a union between two pioneer families of Nolan County.  The weekend they were married, Louise and June were to have gone to Stamford to the rodeo with Margaret and Paul Hill, but wired them that they had gone on their honeymoon instead.

When Young Hospital moved to Sweetwater in 1961, Louise and June moved as well, taking an active part in the community.  They played an active role in organizing the Sweetwater Country Club.  They were vital members of the First Methodist Church where June served on the Board of Trustees and Louise taught Sunday School for many years.

Louise was a member of the AAUW, the Women’s Forum, and the Women’s Golf Association.  She served as District Vice President of the Texas Dental Auxiliary.

June served on the Sweetwater School Board of Trustees for twelve years.  He belonged to the Roscoe Lion’s Club.  He is a life member of the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association.  He is a Mason and active in the Rotary Club.  After the family moved to Kerrville in 1964, June served on the Board of Trustees of Schreiner College.
