Arkansas - His 1966 obituary states that he was born in
Alabama. The obit is surely in error and Miles was born in
Arkansas as indicated by the 3 census'.
NOTE: Family lore is that as a very young girl, "Frankie"
left Sumner Co., TN, with her mother and father as her
father was seeking work. The family ended-up living in old
slave quarters on Miles' father's land which "Charley"
MONTGOMERY was repairing for Mr. JORDAN. Charley is said to
have died and was buried nearby. His grave is said to have
been washed-away by a "Hurricaine" - Miles had "taken a
fancy" to "darked eyed" Franky and they were married when
she was but 16 - Franky''s mother is said to have returned
to Sumner Co., TN, and died shortly thereafter.
NOTE; Living w/Miles, wife & children in Sweetwater, TX, in
abt Aprl 1910, were his 70 y/o grandmother, Elizabeth (nee
?) JORDAN, his 23 y/o sister, Lillie (Lillian) JORDAN and
his 12 y/o sister-in-law, Lillie (Lillian) A. (Annabelle)
