Margaret Lambert Brame
LORAINE--Margaret Lambert Brame, 87, of Loraine died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at Loraine First Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
She was born April 25, 1916, south of Sweetwater in the Cottonwood Community, to Jess Lambert and Susie Withers Lambert. After she graduated from Sweetwater High School, she attended Commercial College in Fresno, Calif. and Abilene. She was married to Loyd Brame on July 4, 1943, in Dallas. After her marriage, she moved only a few miles west across Mitchell County line northeast of Loraine on his farm where she lived for more than 60 years. She was retired from Mitchell County ASCS office with almost 28 years of service. All of these were in Colorado City, except the first five, which were in Sweetwater. After this, she worked at Taylor Mearse Insurance Agency in Loraine for 10 years. Herbert Mearse sold the agency to Ratliff Insurance in Colorado City, and for two years she worked for them part-time. In 1946, she helped organize the North Loraine Home Demonstration Club. She served as its first president and again in 200-2001. It is known as the Extension-Education Club. She served many years on the Board of Directors of Loraine Senior Citizens, at times she was secretary, vice-president and president. When her two children were attending Loraine ISD, first grade-graduation, she was very active in school activities. She also served as Girl Scout Cookie Chairman and on the Program Committee of the West Texas Girl Scout Council for several years. As long as Loraine Business and Professional Club was in existence, she was an active member. Before her health began to fail, she traveled extensively. She visited some part of all 50 states and some part of all continents except Australia. In 1995, Margaret was named Mitchell County Senior Citizen of the Year. She attended First Baptist Church of Loraine for 60 years.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Brame and wife Judy of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Debbie Zabica and husband Steve ;and one grandson, Joshua Zabica, all of St. Joshua, Mo.; a number of nieces and nephews, including Raymond Lambert, Jr. of Sweetwater.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Sue Lambert; her husband, Loyd Brame; three brothers, Clifton (Jack) Lambert, Raymond (Ted) Lambert and J.D. Lambert; one sister, Irene Jennings; and their spouses.

Visitation will be held at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, from 6-8 p.m.
