Langley Green
PLANO - Dorothy Langley Green, 77, a former resident of Sweetwater and current
resident of Plano, passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 1999.
Services were on today at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Plano.
Internment was at Sweetwater Cemetery at 4 p.m.

Dacus
Lawton Dacus, 87, of Midland died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Gardens of Memories in Sweetwater
with Tyrone Lee Kelly officiating. Ellis Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Local arrangements are by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mr. Dacus was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Blum and married Maxine Patmore on Sept. 5,
1947. As a young man he lived in Hermleigh and Ira, then moved to Snyder before
he joined the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1971 he moved to Sweetwater from
Snyder, and to Midland in 1976.
He was a member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Midland; his daughters, Joyce Evans and Christine
Brown, both of Midland; his brother, Roy W. Dacus of Aledo; his sister, Mattie
Jane Bullard of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Raymond
May
ODESSA - Raymond May, age 87, a retired supervisor of United States Gypsum
(USG), died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 at the home of his family in Odessa.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at Arlington
Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. Burial followed in Oak Grove Memorial in
Irving, under the direction of Arlington Funeral Home.
Mr. May was born May 28, 1913 in Proctor. He married Ruby Lucille in Sweetwater.
He was a resident of Irving for 30 years, former resident of Watauga and moved
to Odessa in April. He worked for 36 years for United States Gypsum.
Survivors include two sons, Dellis May and his wife, Pamela, of North Richland
Hills and Dennis May and his wife, Rebecca, of Odessa; one brother, J.T. May of
Nevada; one sister, Ruby Rogenstein of Nevada; 10 grandchildren; and, five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Lucille May; and, one
son, Leland Wayne May.

L. Wozencraft Jr.
Ivan L. Wozencraft Jr., 61, of Sweetwater, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at his
residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at Olton
Cemetery in Olton with Jim Green officiating. Arrangements were made under the
direction of Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home in Olton and local arrangements
by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mr. Wozencraft was born Jan. 10, 1940 in Hereford. He was a welder and dairyman.
He was Baptist.
Survivors include his mother, Essie Lee Sluder of Olton; two sons, Danny
Wozencraft of Lubbock and Darrell Wozencraft of Olton; three daughters, Dee
Sugart of Dublin, Dena Stutzman of Dublin and Debbie Outlaw of Stephenville; one
sister, D'Lee Smith of Olton; and six grandchildren.

Merl Elizabeth Griffin
HAMLIN - Audrey Merl Elizabeth "Merline" Griffin, 74, of Hamlin, died
Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at Hamlin Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at McCaulley United Methodist
Church with Rev. James Brigham and Rev. Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial
followed in McCaulley Cemetery under the direction of Foster-Adams Funeral Home
of Hamlin.
Mrs. Griffin was born Nov. 13, 1926 in Bronte to Joseph Hugo Bramlett and
Gertrude Wallis Richardson. She attended schools in Bronte and Blackwell. She
married Alfred Ray Griffin on July 17, 1947 in McCaulley. A long-time McCaulley
resident, she was a homemaker and a member of the McCaulley United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Griffin of McCaulley; one son and
daughter-in-law, James and Cindy Griffin of Sweetwater; five daughters and
sons-in-law, Barbara and Donald Collins of Hamlin, Carol Dennis Young and John
Sissom of Sweetwater, Charlotte and Bill Godlove of Lubbock, Vicky and Mike
Rimes of Aspermont and Beverly and Jack Larsen of Hamlin; three brothers, Ronnie
Bramlett of Lubbock, J.T. Bramlett of El Paso and Hugh Bramlett of Abernathy;
three sisters, Anna Jo Todd of Hale Center, Joyce Cave of Melissa and Joyce
Mitchell of Hobbs, N.M.; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; and one
great-grandson, Christopher Richardson.
Pallbearers were Dub Waldon, Kerry Green, Marion Reed, Bobby Smith, John Ed Reed
and Gene Mize. Honorary pallbearers were Pete Forbes, L.O. Hicks, Avis Jeffery,
Roy Williams, Raymond Nichols and Buddy Gibson.

Melba Daves, 70, of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at Abilene Regional
Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at First Baptist
Church in Sweetwater with Dr. Joel McCoy. Burial will follow at Garden of
Memories in Sweetwater. Arrangements were made under the direction of McCoy
Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Daves was born Feb. 21, 1931 in Ranger. She was a member of First Baptist
Church in Sweetwater where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a
member of the Bridge Club. She worked and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Drennon Daves of Sweetwater; one daughter, Marsha
Otterstedt and husband, Jeff of Granville, Ohio; and two grandsons, Tyler and
Kyle Otterstedt of Granville, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be Pat Gerald, Les Wooten, David Welch, Kevin Hutson, Tommy
Lancaster and David Green.

Idella Carter
ROTAN - Martha Idella Carter, 89, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at a Midland
health center.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, 2001 at Weathersbee Funeral Home
Chapel in Rotan. Burial followed at the Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of
Weathersbee Funeral Home.
She was born July 31, 1911 in Grandbury. She raised four sons, did volunteer
work and served her church.
Survivors include Billy Carter and family, Robert Carter and family, Chester
Carter and family, Johnny Carter and family, many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and one sister, Charlene Bowen.

Webb
Louise Webb, 94, of Scottsdale, Ariz. and formerly of Sweetwater, died Tuesday,
Feb. 6, 2001 in a Scottsdale, Ariz. nursing home.
Graveside services were held 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9 at Garden of Memories
Cemetery in Sweetwater with Rev. Mark Alexander officiating. Arrangements were
made under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Webb was born Sept. 28, 1906 in Conway, Ark. She married Earl Webb on March
11, 1928 in Sweetwater. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Sweetwater. She had lived in Arizona the past two and one-half years and in
Sweetwater all her life before that. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Webb of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter,
Bettye Earl Hempel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Carrie Louise
Hempel and Melissa Ann Hempel, both of Los Angeles, Calif.

Annette Birkenfeld
Judy Annette Seaton Birkenfeld, 38, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 in
an Abilene hospital.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at the First Baptist
Church in Rotan with Rev. Joel McCoy officiating. Burial followed in the Hobbs
Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home in Rotan.
Mrs. Birkenfeld was born Aug. 31, 1962 in Spur to Joe and Jennette Seaton of
Jayton. She was a homemaker and mother of one. She had lived in the area for 10
years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sweetwater, a Band
Booster and Vice President of Volunteers at School.
Survivors include her parents, Joe and Jennette Seaton of Jayton; one daughter,
Savanna Birkenfeld; three brothers, Joe Seaton, Jr. of Tye, Tim Seaton of Denton
and Wes Seaton of Jayton; three nieces; four nephews; and one great-nephew.

Rollin Thunder
Nanoe Rollin Thunder, 3, of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Rolling
Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001 at McCoy Chapel of
Memories with James Gholson officiating. Graveside services and a burial will
follow at 1 p.m. at Mount Olive Cemetery in Aspermont. Arrangements were made
under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Nanoe was born March 9, 1998 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his mother, Tracillia Ballard of Sweetwater; one brother,

Evaristo Hernandez, 67, of Sweetwater, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 in Lubbock.
A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 at McCoy Chapel
of Memories in Sweetwater. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Monday, Nov.
19, 2001 at Saint Alberts Catholic Church in Roscoe with Father Mike Goode
officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy
Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 26, 1934 in Karnes City, Texas, Mr. Hernandez was a retired farm hand.
He was a Catholic. He had lived in Nolan County most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hernandez of Roscoe; five sons, Jessie
Hernandez, Steve Hernandez, Evaristo Hernandez Jr. and Andrew Hernandez, all of
Roscoe, and Robert Hernandez of Snyder; five daughters, Alicia Vrubel and Jamie
Hernandez, both of Roscoe, Lydia Guerrero, Virginia Monreal, Guadalupe Alaniz,
all of Sweetwater; three sisters, Mary Guzman, Louisa Guzman and Cruz Limones,
all of Sweetwater; six brothers, Charlie Hernandez of Lubbock, Elisio Hernandez,
Pete Hernandez, Chano Hernandez and Thomas Hernandez, all of Sweetwater, and
Joseph Hernandez of Loraine; 24 grandchildren; and, nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Armstrong, Ray Gonzales, Robert Williams, Matthew

Leola Pace
Ima Leola "Imogene" Pace, 97, of Corpus Christi, died Friday, Feb. 2,
2001 at her residence.
Graveside services were held 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at the Weslaco City
Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Seaside Funeral Home in
Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Pace was born in Roscoe on Oct. 5, 1903 to William H. and Edna Reed
McBurnett of Roscoe. She was a graduate of the Sweetwater school system. She
married Asa Clyde "Ace" Pace of Sweetwater on Aug. 18, 1923. She and
her husband moved to Weslaco where she resided until 1985.
Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Keir Thompson, and husband, Baldwin of
McAllen, Jo Ann Logan and husband, George of Billings, Mont. and Helen Francis
Marcum of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mrs. Almarine McDonald of Harlem, Mont.;
ten grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Clyde Pace on Jan. 4, 1967; one
son, J.W. Pace on Jan. 20, 1950; and two grandsons, David Marcum and Vincent
Logan.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Dyer, Charles Miller, Bruce Lackey, George Logan,
Baldwin Thompson and Roy Davis.

M. Jacques
Onesimo (O.M.) Jacques, 78, of Sweetwater, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 at his
son's residence in Sweetwater.
Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church with Father Mike Goode officiating. Burial will follow, with
military graveside rites provided by the Nolan County Honor Guard, at Sweetwater
Cemetery. All arrangements are by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Jacques was born August 27, 1923 in Rotan. He married Irene Torres on Feb.
26, 1947 in Sweetwater. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic
Church and worked as a fence builder and farm laborer. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a past member of Sweetwater Rifle
and Pistol Club. He had lived in Sweetwater most of his life.
Survivors include: one son, Rodney Jacques and wife, Delia, of Sweetwater; one
daughter, Lydia Steele and husband, Gene, of Uvalde; one sister, Eloise
Rodriquez of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and, four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Jacques, on June 22, 1998; and a
daughter, Belinda Ahangarzadeh, on July 18, 1979.

Barbara Storrs Crain, 59, of Abilene, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 at a Houston
hospital.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at Lakeside Baptist
Church in Breckenridge. Graveside services followed at 4 p.m. in the Garden of
Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater. Arrangements were made under the direction of
Melton Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Mrs. Crain was born June 3, 1941 in Haskell. She was the daughter of the late
Andrew and Bonnie Storrs of Sweetwater. She married George Ballard Crain on Aug.
15, 1959 in Sweetwater at Broadway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, George Ballard Crain; one son, Chad Crain of
Copperas Cove; one daughter, Sherry Allen of Abilene; one grandchild, Brianna
McCann; and one sister, Wanda Hartgraves Tabor of Sweetwater.

Booth Garner
AUSTIN - Betty Booth Garner, age 77, of Austin, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at
Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, with Rev. Larry Shores officiating. Burial will be
under the direction of Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
Born April 2, 1923 in Austin to Lee and Jessie Booth, Mrs. Garner was a resident
of Sweetwater for 20 years. She graduated from the University of Texas and had
been employed with the Texas Department of Human Resources for 10 years. She was
an active member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her brother, Don Booth and his wife, Dottie, of Belton; and, a
cousin, Debby Ramsey of Austin.

T. "T-Bone" Brady II
HAMLIN - Theodore T. "T-Bone" Brady II, 87, of San Angelo and formerly
of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at his home.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at the First United
Methodist Church in Hamlin. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Tuxedo under the
direction of Foster-Adams Funeral Home of Hamlin.
Mr. Brady was born on Feb. 9, 1914 in Stonewall County. He was the son of the
late T.T. and Eula O. "Patsy" (Busby) Brady. He attended Stonewall
County rural schools and married Perry Lou Copenhaver on June 24, 1939 in
Abilene. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1999. Mr. Brady was a Texas State
Highway Patrolman from 1940 until 1957 when he retired. He also worked for U.S.
Gypsum in Sweetwater.
He moved to Hamlin from Sweetwater in 1970 and to San Angelo in 1998. He was a
member of the First Christian Church in Sweetwater and attended First United
Methodist Church in Hamlin. He was a member of the Hamlin Masonic Lodge and the
Hamlin Rotary Club.
Survivors include one son, Theodore T. Brady, III and wife, Ann of Austin; one
daughter, Connie Hicks and husband, Bob of San Angelo; a son-in-law, James
McConeghy of Bowie; four brothers, Tom Brady of Hamlin, Charles Brady and Henry
Brady, both of Austin and Jim Brady of Utah; two sisters, Mae Bush of Lubbock
and Rose Turnbull of Hobbs, N.M.; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Vee
McConeghy and Francis Brennenstool; and two sisters.

S. Germany
Rodney S. Germany, 82, of Clyde died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 in the Clyde Nursing
Home in Clyde.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at the Higginbotham Chapel
in Cross Plains. Burial followed in the Cross Plains Cemetery. Mike Kelly
officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home
of Cross Plains.
Mr. Germany was born April 8, 1919 in San Saba to Jason Hull and Amelia
Christine Germany. He was married to Ella Ruth Miller on Nov. 19, 1949 in Brown
County. He was a rancher and a Baptist.
He is survived by his sons, David Powell of Lake Brownwood, Johnny Powell of
Weatherford, R.J. Germany of Rising Star, Dale Germany Sr. of Lometa, Lawson
Dale Germany of Brownwood; four daughters, Irene Williams of Victoria, Mary
Millett of Sweetwater, Chris Reeves of Brownwood, Sue Gray of Clyde; three
brothers, Tom Germany of Arizona, Sam Germany of Washington, Hull Germany, Jr.;
two sisters, Dorothy Pruitt of Odessa, Mary Marble of Dallas; 32 grandchildren;
numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Glenn Maxwell
Terry Glenn Maxwell, 45, of Abilene, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 in Abilene.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 at the City
Cemetery of Abilene, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home at 542 Hickory in
Abilene. Bill Luttrell will be officiating.
Mr. Maxwell was a lifetime resident of Abilene and was a self-employed radiator
repairman and roofer. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ of Abilene.
Survivors include: his mother, Shirley Marie Adams; his wife, Charlene Moore of
Abilene; three sons, Jimmy Maxwell of Abilene, Nathen Glenn Maxwell of Colorado
and Aaron Matthew Wilkerson of Colorado; one daughter, Shonda Lynn Mills of
Mississippi; three brothers, George Maxwell of Amarillo, Gary Adams of
Sweetwater and Nathan Charles Adams of Abilene; four sisters, Linda Mussick,
Louise Maxwell and Lisa Maxwell, all of Abilene, and Lillie Tatum of Amarillo;
two grandmothers, Iva Lee Maxwell of Hawley and Virginia Green of Clyde; his
step-father, M.T. Adams; and, four grandchildren.

Ira D. (Pat) Bell, 75, of Sweetwater, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at the
Holiday Retirement Center in Sweetwater.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000 at Cate-Spencer
& Trent Funeral Home Chapel in Sweetwater with Rev. Donald Hunt officiating.
Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Sweetwater Cemetery under the
auspices of Sweetwater Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 571. Burial will be under
the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Mr. Bell married Margaret E. Hammonds on Sept. 20, 1947 in Anson. He was a
member of Church of God of Prophecy. He was a truck driver for U.S. Gypsum
before retiring. Mr. Bell had been a resident of Sweetwater since 1949. He was a
member of Sweetwater Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 571.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bell of Sweetwater; two sons, Darvin Bell
of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Larry Bell of Gainesville, Texas; one daughter,
Janet Martin of Branson, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and, two
great-grandchildren.

Rankin
Bobbie Rankin, 75, of Loraine, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at a local care center.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 5, 200 at Loraine Cemetery with Rev.
Robert Bracy officiating. Kiker-Seale Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Ms. Rankin was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Roscoe to Charles and Nancy Carlile. She
married Roy Elmo Rankin on Feb. 6, 1943 in Champion. She had been a lifelong
resident of Mitchell County. She was a retired nurses aide and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Rankin and wife, Betty, of Loraine; one
brother, Charles Carlile of Sweetwater; one grandson, Mark Neal Rankin of
Milwaukee, Wis.; one granddaughter, Nillki Rankin of Loraine; and two
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Elmo Rankin on May 3, 1996.
Milton
John Wood
Milton John Wood, 81, of Sweetwater, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at Sweetwater
Healthcare Center.
Funeral services were 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at McCoy Chapel of
Memories with Rev. Clifton Phillips officiating. Burial followed the graveside
services that were held 2 p.m. at Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger.
Arrangements were made under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Wood was born March 21, 1919 in Runnels County. He married Martha Jo Lewis
on Sept. 27, 1941 in Runnels County. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church
and had lived in Sweetwater since 1948. He was a World War II veteran, serving
in the U.S. Navy and worked for U.S. Gypsum Company of which he retired from
after 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Wood; one son, Johnny Joe Wood and wife,
Linda Marie, of Clyde; five daughters, Linda Kay Kilgore and husband, Ralph, of
Sweetwater, Micky Lowry of Brazoria, Martha Lee Johns and husband, Gene, of
Maryneal, Ida Fay Chesshire and husband, Ron, of Monterey, Calif. and Sherry
Weems and husband, Bob, of Sweetwater; two sisters, Margaret Hallmark of
Ballinger and Edna Merl Owens of Mammoth, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Dema Hoots
of Brazoria; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews, Alvin Hallmark, Jerry Hallmark,
Calvin Hallmark, Gary Griffith, Roland Phillips, Lance Nixon and Jessy Likes.

Rev. Herbert M. Zimmerman, 90, of Roscoe died Monday, July 2, 2001 at his
residence.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at First Salem Lutheran
Church in Roscoe with Pastor Glenn Dittmer officiating. Graveside services and
burial will be held Monday, July 9, 2001 at Chokio Lutheran Cemetery in Chokio,
Minn. Arrangements were made under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in
Roscoe.
Honorary pallbearers were the men of First Salem Lutheran Church.
Mr. Zimmerman was born on May 14, 1911 in Chokio, Minn. He married Maude
Herschap on Feb. 23, 1954 in Corpus Christi. He had lived in Roscoe since 1968
and was a member of First Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe and the Roscoe Lions
Club. He attended St. Paul Lutheran College in Minneapolis, Minn. from 1928 to
1932 and graduated from Wartburg Seminary of Dubuque, Iowa in 1933. He taught
Parochial School and was a supply pastor at Buffalo Lake, Minn. in 1934 and then
served as an interim pastor in Tuttle, N.D. in 1935.
He was ordained into the ministry on Nov. 17, 1935 by his hometown pastor in
Chokio, Minn. and accepted his first call to Texas the same month. He served
parishes at Shilo, Sublime, Orange Grove, Marion, Weimar and Roscoe. He retired
in Roscoe in 1979. After retirement he continued the ministry by filling in at
surrounding community churches. He was honored in 2000 for 65 years of service
in the Lutheran Ministry.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Merz of Austin and Connie Groff of
Abilene; four sons, Mark Zimmerman of Midland, Kenny Zimmerman of Caldwell,
Reuben Zimmerman of Lindale and Rodney Kelso of Seguin; three sisters, Gertrude
Brunkow of Herman, Minn., Doris Heuer of Minneapolis, Minn. and Joy Dougherty of
Lake Barrington, Ill.; two brothers, Victor Zimmerman of Chokio, Minn. and
Phillip Zimmerman of Minneapolis, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Schauer Zimmerman in 1952;
his second wife, Lena Maude Herschap Zimmerman in 1989; and one son, Brian
Zimmerman.
Memorials may be made to the First Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe, Lutheran
World Relief or to the American Diabetes Association.

Martin (Jan) Lanier
SNYDER -- Janell Martin (Jan) Lanier, 55, of Snyder and formerly of Sweetwater,
died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 at McCoy Chapel of
Memories. Rev. Lance May will officiate. Burial will follow at Decker Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends at McCoy Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday.
Mrs. Lanier was born Oct. 16, 1946 in Santa Anna. She married Bob Lanier in 1975
in Snyder. She was a graduate of Sweetwater High School in 1965. She was a
supervisor for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Snyder Distribution
Center for eight years and before that had worked as a beautician in Sweetwater
and Snyder several years. She also was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Lanier of Snyder; one son, Scott Lanier and
wife Tyfani of Amarillo; her father, Melvin Martin of Sweetwater; one sister,
Linda Fry of Amarillo; one brother, Greg Martin of Dallas; one stepdaughter,
Cindy Hendley of Eula; one son-in-law, Scott Hendley of Potosi; two grandsons,
Cody Lanier and Justin Lanier, both of Amarillo; two step-grandchildren, Shay
Hendley and Sloan Hendley, both of Eula; and two nieces, Pamela Ludlum of
Sweetwater and Janet Watson of Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Martin on March 5, 1999.

Brian C. Cox, 51, of Sweetwater, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at Sweetwater
Cemetery with Rev. Mark Alexander officiating. Arrangements were made under the
direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Cox was born on Aug. 11, 1949 in Sweetwater. He was a member of First United
Methodist Church and life-long resident of Sweetwater. He graduated from
Sweetwater High School and attended West Texas State University. He worked for
B.J. Hughes Oilfield Service Company.
Survivors include two daughters, Vadrian Danielle Miskowski and Rachael
Miskowski, both of San Diego, Calif.; and one brother, Robin Cox and wife,
Vickie, of Sweetwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dell and Bobby Cox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Lewis, Welton Ellison, Randy Taylor, Charlie
Samples, John Frazier, Wilbert Gerst, Keith Mulanax, Jimmy Don Peeples, and

John Prentis Wilks, 68, of Maryneal, died Sunday, July 1, 2001 at Rolling Plain
Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Maryneal Baptist
Church with Brother Don Pattillo officiating. Burial followed at the Decker
Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of
Sweetwater.
Pallbearers were Rex George, Louis Light, Parks Thomas, Jimmy Flint, Lance Light
and P.A. Womble. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Hale, Kyle Hale, Kurt Hale,
Heath Bowlin, Jimmy Johns and Greg Sanders.
Mr. Wilks was born Dec. 12, 1932 in Pecos. He married Helen Sasin on March 10,
1951 in Champion. He was a graduate of Highland High School and had lived in
Nolan County most of his life. He retired in 1982 from Lone Star Industries in
Maryneal. He was a member of Maryneal Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Wilks of Maryneal; two daughters, Barbara Hale
and husband, Michael of Sweetwater and Pat Bowlin of Plains; one sister, JoAnn
Farr and husband, Jerry of Abilene; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P.L. and Agnes Wilks; and one sister,
Evelyn Newsom.

Morales, Jr.
Conchito Morales, Jr. 83, of Roscoe, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001 in an Abilene
Nursing Home.
A rosary was held Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at 7 p.m. at Cate-Spencer & Trent
Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at 10 a.m.
at Saint Alberts's Catholic Church in Roscoe.
Burial followed at the Roscoe Cemetery, Rev. Mike Goode officiated. All were
under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mr. Morales was born June 15, 1918 in Eagle Lake, Texas. He was a member of
Saint Albert's Catholic Church. He was a TV and radio repairman and also worked
at Roscoe Cemetery for Mr. Bennett.
He is survived by three brothers, Jesse Morales, of Friona, Morris Morales, of
Eagle Lake, Jimmy Morales, of Sweetwater; four sisters, Maria Guerrero, of Gail,
Belia Torres, of Albuquerque, NM., Ruperta Gonzalez, of Roscoe, Elvira Olvera,
of Roscoe; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother on June 25, 1979; his father on June
28,1979; one brother on January 6, 1995.
Pallbearers were Robert Morales, Andre' Morales, Albert Morales Jr., Chris
Morales, Martin Morales and Jesse Morales. Honorary pallbearer was Steve
Gonzalez.

Jones Dickenson
Wynona Jones Dickenson was born in Hamilton County, Texas, on February 12, 1908.
She enrolled in Texas Technological College in 1925 as a member of its first
freshman class, and she graduated in three years, receiving her diploma in 1928.
She received a Masters degree from Hardin-Simmons University. She married Curtis
Dickenson in 1928, and they were married for more than 52 years prior to his
death in 1980. They lived in Stamford, Texas, for more than 25 years and then
moved to Sweetwater, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at Garden of
Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater with Dr. Darris Egger officiating. McCoy Funeral
is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dickenson passed away Sunday, April 16 at
Sears Methodist Nursing Center in Abilene.
Wynona Dickenson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Sweetwater, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, the
Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Curtis was a 42 year employee of West Texas Utilities Company, retiring as
District Sales Manager of the Stamford District. Wynona Dickenson taught school
in and around Stamford while they lived had lived there, and she taught in
Sweetwater until she retired.
Wynona Dickenson is survived by her son and his wife, Bob and Joan Dickenson of
Abilene, and by her daughter and her daughter's husband, Nancy and Larry Meeks
of San Angelo. She is also survived by three grandchildren Mike Meeks of
Midland; Karen Fox of San Angelo; and Jim Dickenson of Abilene. She is also
survived by three great-grandchildren, Kyle Meeks; Kayci Meeks; and Kody Fox.

She was married on Nov. 12, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Randy Wayne Jones. She earned her Bachelor of Science in home economics from Baylor University in 1970. Jackie was a member of the Cogdell United Methodist Church in Waco.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Jones of Speegleville; one son, Justin and his wife, April, of Austin; and her parents, Max and Neta Sturdivant of Waco.
