Jean Hendrix Horne
Funeral arrangements for Jean Hendrix Horne, 93, of Friendswood and
formerly of Sweetwater, will be announced by McCoy Funeral Home of
Sweetwater.
Ms. Horne died Sunday, July 27, 2008, in Friendswood.
Marselle Louise “Marsie” Hurd
Funeral services for Marselle Louise “Marsie” Hurd, 49, of
Sweetwater will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in the
First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ronnie Horton
officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of
Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Hurd died Friday, July 25, 2008, in the Nolan Nursing and
Rehab.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1958, in Superior, Wis. She married Michael
William “Red” Hurd in 1986 in Sweetwater. Mrs. Hurd was a member of
the First Assembly of God and worked for the Sweetwater ISD as the
school cafeteria manager at the middle school.
Survivors include her husband, Michael William “Red” Hurd of
Sweetwater; one son, Michael Hurd II and his wife, Carla, of
Sweetwater; one daughter, Michelle Kathlene Hurd of Sweetwater; two
grandchildren, Nicolas Hurd and Lily Hurd; and two sisters, Loraine
Mueller of Switzerland and Chris Mac Crostie of Brule, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Catherine Lyons;
one brother, Mel Lyons, in 1998; and one sister, Kathleen “Midge”
Copp, in 1988.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Fraley, Shane Hawkins, Jonathon Alaniz,
James Gregg, James Gregg Jr. and Paul Reckner.
The honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Kirk.
DORIS WILKINSON
Funeral services for Doris Wilkinson, 90, of Sweetwater will be at
11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with
Rev. Jerry Payne and Rev. Jack Pinkerton officiating. Burial will
follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. The services will be under the
direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008,
at McCoy Funeral Home.
She died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1917, in Hayes County, Texas. She married
Melvin T. Wilkinson Dec. 9, 1935, in Mercury, Texas.
She was a member of the Church of God in Sweetwater and she had
lived in Sweetwater since 1944. She was a homemaker and enjoyed
sewing, fishing and collecting rocks.
Survivors include one son, Melvin T. Wilkinson, Jr. and wife Brenda
of Sweetwater; one daughter, Willene Browning and husband Jerry of
Sweetwater; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13
great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Wilkinson, on Jan.
22, 1992; her father, Marion A. Massey; her mother, Willie Mae King
Massey; her brothers, A.J. Massey, Milton Massey, Roger Massey and
Slim Massey; and a sister, Opal Heard.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Williams, Jackie Williams, Russell Moore,
Roland Zumwalt, Mike Kincaid, Ricky Painter and Aaron Sanders.
Honorary pallbearers will be Riley McDonell, D.E. Williams and J.W.
Sanders.
Lois Misicka Davis
Graveside services for Lois Misicka Davis, 85, of Atlanta, Ga. were
held 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Georgia National Cemetery in
Canton, Ga. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of
Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel of Atlanta, Ga. Davis passed
away July 16, 2008.
Mrs. Davis was a devoted wife of a career Army officer and a loving
mother.
Survivors include her four daughters Carol Hetzler of Roswell, Ga.,
Kim Cason of Sweetwater and Donna Davis and Mary Lou Dahlquist, both
of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Jay Misicka
of Naperville, Ill.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert E.
Davis.
Patricia (Pat) Malone
Funeral services for Patricia (Pat) Malone, 68, of Sweetwater will
be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Saint Stephen's
Episcopal Church in Sweetwater with pastor Dennis Bosley
officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater. Mrs.
Malone died on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Hendrick Medical Center
in Abilene.
She was born on May 14, 1939, in Blackwell. She was married to Ed J.
Malone Sept. 15, 1961, in Abilene. Although born in Blackwell, she
attended Sweetwater schools until the age of 14 and relocated to
Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School.
She then attended Texas Tech University for two years. Pat and her
husband owned and operated The Crosstie Restaurant in Sweetwater for
20 years. She also worked as a volunteer at Rolling Plains Memorial
Hospital in Sweetwater for 20 years. She was always so glad to be
around her friends and neighbors and it was always a pleasure to see
her.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Malone of Sweetwater; one stepson,
Mike Malone and wife Gloria of Harper; one stepdaughter, Patti
Campbell of Rowlett; six grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton John and Lola Mae
Finley Oden.

MITCHELL LEE YATES
Memorial graveside services for Mitchell Lee Yates, 74, of Denton
will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Coleman Cemetery
in Coleman.
The services will be directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
He died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
