The Henry Brasher Family

Like most surnames is earlier records, the Brasher family name appears in various records as Brashier, Brashear and Brazier. Henry Brasher was born March 1, 1771 in Orangeburg County, S.C. Orangeburg is in south central S.C. and about 200 miles west of Perquimaus County. N.C. and about 250 miles west of Nausmond County, VA and Brasher families were located in these two locations as early as 1658. Henry married Eleanor Ashmore (the daughter of Jack Hawkins). Eleanor was born Sept. 27, 1776 in N.C. and died Sept. 17, 1837. The exact place of her burial is unknown. Henry died on Sept. 22, 1857 and is buried at Old Chapel Methodist Churchyard in Shelby County, AL (on Hwy 25, east of Columbiana, AL).

Jane Brasher who was born Apr 11, 1775 in S.C. She married Elisha Nelson, Jr. in Greenville, S.C. She died Jan. 13, 1884 in Union County, AR.
Thomas H. Brasher who was born Oct. 19, 1798 in S.C. and died Jan. 5, 1874 at Fort Williams, AL.
John Andrew Jackson Brasher was born in 1800 in S.C. He went to Panola County, TX with other members of his family in 1858 and died there in Nov. 1862.
Samuel Brasher was born Dec. 25, 1803 in S.C. and died June 12, 1868 in Shelby County, AL.
Henry C. Brasher, Jr. was born in 1807 in S.C. He went to Panola County, TX with other members of his family in 1858. It is believed he died there in 1886.
Richard Harrison Brasher was born Dec. 27, 1811 in S.C. He went to Panola County, TX with other members of his family in 1858. He died there on Dec. 1, 1890.
Sarah Ann Brasher was born in 1817 in AL. No further information is available about her.
