Samuel Daniel Jones, the son of John A. C. and Martha W. Jones was born in 1828 in Talladega County, Alabama. He moved to Panola County, Texas in the mid 1840's. He met and married Sarah Jane Craig, the daughter of Joseph L. Craig and Mary E. Jones. They married on August 10, 1850.
