English
MarshaLooking for information on an Annie (Anna, Anne) English adopted by Sarah Luker and John English. Have a birthday of 1871. I believe she was 100 % Caddo Native American and is listed as Sarah step daughter. Sarah English later married a Thomas Smiley. I'm not sure if Annie English is her real name but I'm hoping there maybe some adoptions records or other records for the parents.

Pierce, Cockrell, Dukes, Morgan, Herrin, Haynes
Vicki Pierce StroeherRe: Walton Cemetery, Victoria L. Morgan Cockrell, who is my great grandmother. Landrum Morgan is her brother; her parents were Jeremiah Morgan (b. 1793 in Lunenberg, VA; d. 30 May 1869 in Newberry Co., SC) and Sarah Marbut (b. 27 Nov. 1808 in Newberry Co., SC; d. 21 Aug. 1896, presumably in Panola Co.). Sarah (Sally) was married previously to George Gibson/Gipson, who died in SC in 1836. Their son, Drayton O. Gibson/Gipson (b. 1828; d. 1914), came to Panola Co., as well. After Gibson died, Sally married Jeremiah Morgan and had 6 children, only 2 of whom lived past infancy (Victoria & Landrum). Sally & Victoria are in the 1870 census for Saluda, Edgefield, SC. Landrum indicated in an application for a Confederate pension that he arrived in Panola County on 22 Aug 1870. They must have joined Drayton over near Bethany, and that must be where Victoria met Peter Cockrell. They married (perhaps!) after 29 Aug 1871 -- Peter obtained a license in Caddo Parish, LA on that date, but it was never returned to the parish clerk for recording.
Marsh, Forshee, Darnall
[There is no date on this query but it's at least 10-15 years old and no email address is included. 20 Nov 2020]Dear Angela:
My name is Jackie Martin ... My mother is Alva Faye Marsh Forshee the daughter of Dovie Idell Darnell Marsh, the sister of the individual listing I am sending to you.
I have been researching the Darnall/Darnell family in Panola Co. My grandmother's parents: Horace & Idell Darnall are listed in the 1900 US Census: Justice Precinct #1 in Panola Co, TX, Pg 11B with their children Gordon H, Herbert "Hub", & Dovie. Unfortunately, the Darnall parents die of pneumonia in abt Dec 1901 - the children are about 5, 4, & 1 respectively. They are "farmed" out to families & this is where I lose them. Dovie was supposedly living with a Dr. Ballard until about 12 years of age. I have no idea where Gordon & Hub are at this time. I have not found them YET on any census.
Unfortunately my grandmother died before I became interested in geneology but I do have this obituary of "Uncle Hub" & thought it would help in the Oddfellows Cemetery info.
If you should have any info on this family I would be greatly helped by it. My mother, who is 82 years old is greatly interested in finding out what happened to her Uncle Gordon ... she believes he ran the sawmill .. but I have no info on this????
I hope this helps in your continuing work on Panola County
Sincerely
Jackie Martin
