Hebron
B Cemetery
"Hebron B Cemetery","3
Jun 1898","This cemetery is located in the northeast
quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84:
33 Deg 37.434N, 95 Deg 02.083W. This is a black cemetery near
the outskirts of Clarksville. Take FM 1159 north from Hwy 82
for .8 miles and the cemetery is on the right or East side of
the road. A CLARKSVILLE TIMES article in 1990 characterizes it
as 'ancient' but maybe 'old' would be a better description. An
instrument was made on 15 Jan 1898 and filed for record on 3
Apr 1899 in Book CH Vol 35 Page 343 conveying 5 acres of the
Henry Stout survey from John R. Latimer et al to Hebron Cemetery
Association. The oldest marked burial is that of Scott Dinwiddie
who died on 3 Jun 1898. (There is a marker for a Mrs. Sally Green
giving death as 17 May 1828 but we are discounting the validity
of the date). This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue
Dale on 22 Jan 1999. We were on the site on 1 Feb 2003 to take
the GPS Coordinates. We also did a re walk of the cemetery on
3 May 2004 adding new burials and noting marker changes."
