Dec 1878,"This cemetery is located in the southwest quadrant
of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33
Deg 32.910N, 95 Deg 09.248W. This cemetery is located about 8
1/2 miles southwest of Clarksville. There is a state sign pointing
the direction to the cemetery. From Hwy 37 take CR 1330 and follow
1.1 mile to the cemetery site. It is on the right. There has
not been found an early deed for the cemetery. RED RIVER RECOLLECTIONS
page 230, Column 2, 'with the death of his son Calvin B. and
his brother Crippen, both dying within two weeks in 1878, he
established Lone Star Cemetery on one corner of his land', this
refers to Calvin Gilmore and Evaline Bateman Jackson. There was
also a deed transaction made on 18 Jun 1966 for 1/2 acre of the
T&PRR Survey from Leonard L. Bowen et ux to Lone Star Cemetery
filed on 22 Jul 1966 in Book CH 246 page 30. The oldest marked
grave is that of Burtie Jackson, son of Calvin and Eveline, who
died 15 Dec 1878. There is an OBIT in 1926 referring to this
cemetery as Jackson Cemetery. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence
and Sue Dale on a beautiful 17 and 18 Dec 1998. We returned to
the site on 30 Nov 2003 and took the GPS Coordinates. We also
did a re walk of the cemetery adding new burials and noting marker
changes."
