This cemetery was surveyed by James Loyd and Mattie Irene Tate
Griggs in August of 1996. After reading in 58 years of obituaries
and comparing against an earlier reading by Nancy Nelson formerly
of Manchester, we, Lawrence and Sue Dale, decided to re walk
this cemetery on 13 Sep 1999 and verify the new information.
In the spring of 2000, a group of interested people did much
beautifying to this cemetery. Some of the work included a new
concrete floor for the pavilion and a new pipe fence for the
cemetery. Also at this time, markers were installed on the new
fence dividing the cemetery into four distinct areas. Section
1 is the southeast quadrant, Section 2 is the southwest, Section
3 is northeast and Section 4 is the northwest. Mattie Irene Tate
Griggs took a copy of the burials and re walked this cemetery
on Thursday June 1 2000 placing all individuals into the proper
area. Our thanks go to these individuals who gave so freely of
their time. We again visited the site on 11 Jan 2004 to take
the GPS coordinates. We also did a re walk of the cemetery adding
new burials and noting marker changes."
