White Rock Cemetery,
13 Aug 1866,"This cemetery is located in the northeast quadrant
of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33
Deg 39.660N, 94 Deg 55.494W. From Hwy 82 and FM 114 east of Clarksville,
take FM 114 5.2 miles to FM 1158. Take FM 1158 2.8 miles north
to the intersection with FM 1699. Stop and look just to the left
and ahead about 150 feet and there is the cemetery, well marked.
A deed dated 27 Apr 1866 and filed for record on 27 Apr 1866
in Book CG Vol O Page 204 conveys 2 acres of the Edward Hughart
survey from James M. Hays to White Rock Methodist Episcopal Church.
A deed dated 26 Jan 1897 and filed for record on 18 Feb 1897
in Book CH Vol 32 Page 243 conveys 1 acre of Edward Hughart 'Madras'
from John Terry, Sr. et ux to White Rock Methodist Episcopal
Church. A deed dated 5 Mar 1898 and filed for record on 14 Mar
1898 in Book CG Vol 34 Page 287 conveys 13.7 acres of the Edward
Hughart survey 'McKenzie' from John Terry to White Rock Methodist
Episcopal Church. The oldest marked burial was for Joseph A.
C. White who died 13 Aug 1866. This cemetery was surveyed by
Lawrence and Sue Dale on 25 Jan 1999. To assure a good quality
in the work we reworked the entire cemetery on 29 Nov 1999. We
were on the site again on 8 May 2003 and took the GPS Coordinates.
We also did a re walk of the cemetery on 15 Jan 2004 adding new
burials and noting marker changes."
