Wooten Cemetery, 1 Aug 1846,"This cemetery is located in the southeast quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 28.146N, 94 Deg 48.518W, El 358 ft. This cemetery is shown on the RRCo TX map but there is no road to it. To get to the general area take FM 44 from Boxelder east 3.7 miles to the intersection with CR 4450. Take CR 4450 north 1 mile till you reach a turn into a pasture on the east side. After entering the pasture gate, proceed easterly to south easterly for a total of 9/10 miles following the track just past a corral. Then proceed southeasterly around a point of timber, crossing a small draw, veering to the right and then up the small hill, past a small pool on the right, ahead to the tree line, all this last taking no more than 3/10 mile. You are there! The earliest marked burial is that of W. L. Welborn who died on 1 Aug 1846. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on 18 Jan 2000 on a bright and beautiful day. Owner of the land is Mr. Stearman and he lives next to the Shawnee Baptist Church. His address is 3901 CR 4415, Avery TX 75550. Please do not attempt to enter the land without getting permission from the landowner. We visited the site again on 18 Dec 2003 and took the GPS readings.".
