Blackland was located four miles southeast of Rockwall in central Rockwall County.
It was granted a
post office in 1876. During the 1880s it had a population
of 125, three businesses, and a gristmill. Local farmers shipped cotton,
wheat, and oats from there, but the coming of the railroad to other towns
within the county was Blackland's un-doing.
1 mile south of Heath.
It was known for "quart houses" and gambling - located on the East Fork slough.
1 mile west of Blackland
It was a Way Station & Stage Coach stop between Bonham and Scyene.

Located southeast of the Rockwall square, near the Missouri - Kansas & Texas Railroad depot station. It was a predominately African-American community.
Odell was situated on Long Branch Creek, near where the Lawhorn Cemetery is located.
In 1879 Odell had a general store owned by Joe Fennell, a gin built by Henry Haskins and a saloon owned by Edwin S. Kelley, who owned several saloons in Kaufman County. Ed Kelley named a son "Odell" after the place where he owned his first business after coming to Texas. A school was there from 1880-1885. By 1885 the community was extinct.
Located 2 miles southwest of the Rockwall square. It was a predominately African-American community.
