	SANDERS
	FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. MARY SANDERS,83 Mrs. Mary Margaret Sanders, 83, died at her residence here at 10 a.m. Friday following a long illness. Mrs. Sanders was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Hemphill. Burial was in Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Geneva. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Gertrude Sanders of Hemphill, and two nieces. Pallbearers ere Dr. G. C. Winslow, J. H. Minton, Leon Adickes, Deas Fuller, Jesse Moody, V. A. Jones, J. B. Lewis and B. A. Alford. ************************************** Mary L. STROTHER was born 1876 and died 1959. She was the daughter of Samuel Nail Strother & Margaret Mary Harris. She married Walter William Sanders.
	SANDERS
	Walter W. Sanders Funeral services were held Friday at the Baptist church for Walter W. Sanders, 58, who died at his home in Hemphill late Thursday night, December 28. He was stricken with paralysis December 21 and was thought to be improving until complications developed. He was married in 1906 to Miss Mary Strother, who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Miss Gertrude Sanders, of Hemphill, one brother, John T. Sanders, of Beaumont, and two sisters, Mrs. Wes Davis and Miss Emma Sanders, of Geneva. He had been a member of the Baptist church for about 35 years and had lived in Sabine county all his life. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. J. Rushing and Rev. J. Russel Brown at two o'clock Friday and burial made in the Geneva cemetery. Pall bearers were Dr. W. T. Arnold, Jeff Peeto, (sp?) George Russell, George Alford, Frank Davidson, and D. A. SANDERS & Margarett Lee DENT. He married Mary L. Strother. Services handled by Stringer (probably Jasper).
	SMITH
	Pauline Coats Smith, 86, of Hemphill died Monday at her residence. Funeral service was Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Hemphill with burial at Hemphill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill. A native of Richton, Miss., she lived in Hemphill most of her life and was a retired school teacher for the Hemphill Independent School District. 	SMITH
	Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Rev. R. A. Smith Funeral services for Rev. Russell A. Smith, 67, of San Augustine were held at the First Baptist Church in San Augustine at 4 P.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery under direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home of San Augustine. The Rev. Carl Greer, pastor of the First Baptist Church in San Augustine officiated, assisted by the Rev. W. D. Sherman of Beaumont and the Rev. Clarence Howell of Hemphill. Rev. Smith died at home at 8:30 a.m. Monday after an illness of four years. He was a native of Fairmount in Sabine County. He was the youngest of 13 children and had lived in San Augustine since 1933. Rev. Smith was a member of the Baptist Church and was a school teacher in Sabine County until he entered the Navy during World War I. He served aboard the battleship Oregon in the Pacific. After the war, he was associated with Knox Lumber Co. in Hemphill. In 1932 this company merged with Temple Lumber Co. for one year. He became vice president of First National Bank in Hemphill in 1933. When the Hemphill bank closed in 1933, he moved to San Augustine to be in charge of the bank’s service. He remained in San Augustine as vice president of First National Bank of San Augustine until 1938. In 1938, he joined Deep East Texas Electric Co-operative as office manager. In 1940, he returned to Temple Lumber Co. in Pineland where he was purchasing agent and logging superintendent in charge of all woods operations until 1956. In 1956, he became an independent pulpwood contractor in San Augustine. Smith had been a Baptist minister for more than 40 years. He served churches in Milam, Geneva, Campsprings, Bronson, Chinquapin, Denning, San Augustine, and had been pastor of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church for more than 17 years, until he resigned on account of ill health. Smith served as mayor of San Augustine in 1948 and 1949. During his term of office, the San Augustine Memorial Hospital was built. This was his main project during his term of office. He did not seek re-election. Smith was a member of San Augustine Masonic Lodge and served as district deputy grand master. Pallbearers were Hogan Fussell, Morris Thompson, Dr. C. R. Haley, E. A. Buckalew, Abb Howard, Albert Green, J. H. Wells, and Nelsyn Wade. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Smith of San Augustine; one son, J. L. Smith of San Augustine; one grandchild, Linda Joy Smith of San Augustine; three brothers, Obe Smith of Fairmount, G. S. 	Ruth Speights Funeral services for Ruth Elvie Speights, 86, of Pineland were at 2 p.m. March 20 in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hemphill Cemetery. Mrs. Speights died at 12:45 am March 19 in Hines Nursing Home in Pineland. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. 	STEPHENSON
	A. Stephenson Of Nacogdoches Rites Are Today SAN AUGUSTINE (Spl) – Funeral services for Alpha Benson Stephenson, 82, of Rt. 7 Nacogdoches will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel in San Augustine. The Rev. Gail Bobbit of Nacogdoches and the Rev. Forest Helton of San Augustine will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. She (sp) died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Grimes County and a former resident of San Augustine. He lived in Nacogdoches for five years. He was a member of the Church of God and a retired carpenter. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Jewel Hall of Nacogdoches; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Chance and Mrs. Mamie Matthews, both of San Augustine; and Mrs. Beaulah Causey of Shreveport, La.; one half sister, Mrs. Ida Mae Johnson of Pasadena; two brothers, Hardy Stephenson of Vivian, La. and Jodie Stephenson of Hemphill; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ************************************** Unknown Newspaper Born 4 Mar 1887, Died 19 Mar 1969
	STINSON
	Funeral Rites Held For Stinson Infant Funeral services fro David Carl Stinson, 2, were held Friday, April 24, at 3 o’clock p.m. from the St. Pius Catholic Church with Father Bandane of Nacogdoches officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery with Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill in charge. David died Wednesday, Aprill 22, in a Chattanooga, Tenn. Hospital during an operation. Survivors are this parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Stinson; a sister, Martha Ann; grandparents, Mrs. V. B. Currie of Hemphill and Mr. and C. D. Stinson of Decatur, Ga.; aunt, Mrs. J. D. Huff of Hemphill, Mrs. Ardath Waldrop of Jasper, Miss Jane Stinson and Mrs. E. T. Smith of Decatur, Ga.; uncles, R. L. Currie of Fort Worth, O. S. Currie of Buna, W. F.
