Jeff J. Vickers Of Isla Dies
Jeff J. Vickers, 77, of the Isla community died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hospital in San Augustine where he had been a patient for two months.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Springs Methodist Church with the Rev. W. A. Holt, pastor of the church officiating. The Rev. W. T. Love, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church assisted.
Burial was in Liberty Springs Cemetery under direction of Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Vickers of Isla community, two daughters, Mrs. Clovis Becton of Houston and Mrs. Eloise Fingleman of Needville and one son, Fred Vickers, one sister, Mrs. Hazel Jolly of Shreveport, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Nick Campagna and children; Mr. And Mrs. H. A. Schuller and children; Pearl Vickers and son and Farley Williams and sons all of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Bennett, Mrs. Sadie Williams and Mrs. Abbie Williams, all of Alto, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sherrod, Mrs. and Mrs. Hugh Jolly all of Shreveport, La; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Jolly and sons of Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jolly of New Orleans, La; Conrad Vickers of Port Arthur; Mrs. Viola Vickers, Mrs. Kathleen Vickers and Mrs. Katie Cage, all of Shreveport; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Williams, Baytown; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Birdson, Houston; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sario, Vidor; Mrs. Louise Allen, Alto and Mrs. Glesner Becton, Little Rock, Arkansas.
