Arthur J.Mahan,83,of Woodson,died at 6:35p.m.Wednesday at Stephens
Memorial Hospital. Services were held at 10a.m. Friday at
Adkins-Satterwhite Funeral Home.Jimmy Cox of Elliott Street Church of
Christ officiated. Burial was at Woodson Cemetery.Born Jan.18,1900,in
Comanche County,he had lived in Woodson most of his life,where he
married BERTHA WALKER in 1923. He was a retired bulldozer operator and
a member of Woodson Church of Christ. A brother and siter preceded him
in death. He is survived by his wife;two sons,LEO of Breckenridge and
JOE RAY of Seadrift;a daughter,CLEO NEAL of Breckenridge;a sister,
GLADYS HARRIS of Stephens County;five grandchildren;and three
step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were MIKE MAHAN,TERRY MAHAN,GARY
SULLIVAN,CARLTON SULLIVAN,BILL SANDERS AND TRACY ELLISTON. Honorary

Mortuary directed. She died at 9:50p.m. Wednesday at Stephens Memorial
Hospital. Born BERTHA LEE WALKER,Jan.26,1901,in Comanche County,she
had lived in Throckmorton County most of her life. She married ARTHUR
J.MAHAN in Woodson in 1923. He preceded her in death on Jan.19,1983.
She was a housewife and a member of the Woodson Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son,JOE RAY MAHAN of Breckenridge;one daughter,
CLEO NEAL of Breckenridge;three sisters,BONNIE MITCHELL and VELMA
MIXON of Breckenridge and BESS HARVEY of Woodson;two brothers,HORTON
WALKER of Roswell,N.M. and GALE WALKER of Breckenridge;six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by one son,two brothers and two step-brothers.Pallbearers were JOHN

Leo Mahan,60,of Breckenridge,died Saturday at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services were at 10a.m.Tuesday at Morehart Mortuary.Jim Cox,
minister of Elliott Street Church of Christ,officiated and burial was
in Woodson Cemetery. Born March 8,1925 in Lusk,he graduated in 1943
from Woodson High School. He was employed with the police departments
in Breckenridge,Throckmorton and Olney. He was also employed with
Stephens County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Stephens
County Law Enforcement Association and Woodson Church of Christ. He
married THELMA CURTIS in 1950.She died in 1971.He married ROSE COX Dec.
31,1975 in Archer City. Survivors include his wife;four stepsons,JOHN
CRAWFORD,DAVID LYLES and JIMMY BUCKLEY,all of Breckenridge and JOHN
LYLES of Fletcher,Okla.;a brother,JOE RAY of Breckenridge;a sister,
CLEO NEAL of Breckenridge;mother,BERTHA MAHAN of Breckenridge;and a
number of aunts and uncles. Pallbearers were JOE BISHOP,JAMES CAIN,
JOHN CRAWFORD,DAVID JORDAN,JOE MAHAN and DAN YOUNG. Honorary

the direction of Melton Funeral Home. He was born on Sept.16,1924 in
Graham.He married HELEN CLAXTON on Dec.26,1947 in Woodson.She preceded
him in death on April 13,1984. He moved to Woodson in 1947 from
Breckenridge. He was a machinist,a member of the First Christian
Church in Woodson and a member of the Throckmorton Masonic Lodge. He
is survived by one daughter,DIANA MALEY of Clyde;one son,GREG MALEY of

Sept.24,1969.She lived in Woodson most of her life. She was a
housewife,an LVN,member of the First Christian Church in Woodson and a
member of the Easter Star of Throckmorton. Survivors include one
daughter,MAXINE RAMSEY of Fort Worth;two sons,BARTON MALEY of Fort

Jeff Lee Maley,78,of Woodson,died Tuesday at 3a.m. at his daughter's
home,Mrs.RAY E.DICKIE of Woodson. He had been in ill health for
several months. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3p.m. at the
First Christian Church of Woodson with the Rev.Bob Colerick,pastor
officiating. Burial will be in Woodson Cemetery under the direction
of Satterwhite Funeral Home.Born Nov.7,1891 in Guadalupe County,he
came to the Woodson area in 1910 from South Texas. He was married to
the former MATTIE PEARL FRY,July 22,1917 in the living room of the Fry
Hotel in Woodson. Following their marriage they lived in Graham,
Eastland and Breckenridge for a short time,then returned to Woodson.
His wife preceded him in death June 21,1962. Mr.Maley owned and
operated Maley Machine Shop in Woodson. He was a member of the First
Christian Church of Woodson. Survivors include one son,CLIFTON A.MALEY
of Woodson;one daughter;Mrs.RAY E.DICKIE of Woodson;four grandchidren,
MIKE and EDDIE DICKIE,GREG MALEY and DIANA LATHAM;and one sister,Mrs.O.

Cemetery in Woodson. Mrs.Massey was born in Hamilton County and was a
homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She moved to
Throckmorton from Hamilton County in 1926 and to Grandview in 1987.
She married P.M."DICK"MASSEY in Lampasas;he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons,NOLEN MASSEY of Mansfield and BILL MASSEY

FRANCES PEARL STRINGER in 1911. Mrs.McBride died in 1956. He married
BERTA CLARK,March 26,1957. McBride had lived in Woodson since 1941
and was a member of the East Church of Christ.He had owned gins in
Whitesboro and Woodson and was a cotton buyer in Cleburne for several
years. Besides his wife,McBride is survived by three daughters,Mrs.

No.3 in Throckmorton County for 16 years as a heavy equipment operator.
He moved to Seymour from Woodson in 1973. He worked for Durable

a motorcycle wreck in Woodson. Billy Gene Nichols, Jr., was born on
August 18,1983 in Waurika, Oklahoma to parents BILL NICHOLS, SR., and
JOYCE DIANE LONG. He grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Woodson
High in 2001. Billy also attended Oklahoma Vocational Institute in
Drumright, OK. He was a member of the Texas Cross Country Racing Assoc.
and American Motor Cross Assoc. Billy was a devoted son, brother and
uncle. He never met a stranger and was a great friend to many. Billy
Nichols, Jr. was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived
and lovingly remembered by his parents;2 sisters, ANGELA and husband,
BRAD DAVIS of Oklahoma and KRISTINA WHITNEY of N.Carolina; a niece,

Ima Fay and SIDNEY ALVIN OTTS were married in January of 1928 in
Eliasville,Texas.He preceded her in death on November 26,1994.She
moved from Woodson to Throckmorton in 1959. Mrs.Otts was a homemaker
and a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs.Otts was preceded in death by
a son,JIMMY OTTS on August 19,2002 and two grandsons and a

John Lee Pevey,75,died Tuesday in Woodson. Services were at 2p.m.
Thursday at the Woodson Baptist Church with the Rev.Rick Mitchell
officiating. Burial was in Woodson Cemetery directed by Merriman
Funeral Home in Throckmorton. Born in Woodson,he was a lifelong
resident of Woodson. He was a retired postmaster and a U.S.Army Air
Corps veteral of World War II. Survivors include his wife,ANETTE

BELLAH August 6,1950 in Mineral Wells.He preceded her in death October
5,1978. She and BUD POSTELL were married March 13,1981 in Weatherford.

17,1999 at an Olney hospital.Funeral services were held at 2p.m.Sunday

Cemetery directed by Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.Mr.Reeves was born
on August 19,1916 in Throckmorton County. He married NELLIE BROWN on
October 20,1933 in Throckmorton. She preceded him in death on November
21,1987.He married CLARA PALMER on July 16,1988 in Haskell.He moved to
Olney in 1997 from Woodson. He was an oilfield pumper retiring in 1980.
He worked for Throckmorton Co.as a pumper until 1988 and was a Master
Mason in the Ft.Griffin Masonic Lodge #489. He is survived by his wife,
CLARA REEVES of Olney;three daughters,KEELEY REEVES of Caddo,PATSY
LAWSON of Dallas,and ANN CHARBONEAU of Wichita Falls;two sons,CLARENCE
EDWARD REEVES of San Francisco,California and BOBBY MACK REEVES of
Tuscola;eight grandchildren,JIM BOB COZART of Cisco,TOMMY REEVES of

A 40 year old former Woodson man was shot to death late Saturday at
his home in Richardson,according to Richardson Police.James Larry
"Tooter"Reeves of Richardson was dead on arrival at 12:30a.m.Sunday at
Richardson Memorial Hospital after he was shot once in the head about
11:30p.m.Saturday,police reports said. A woman was arrested Sunday in
the incident,according to police.Services will be at 2p.m.Wednesday at
Melton Funeral home in Breckenridge. The Rev.Ricky Mitchell of Woodson
Baptist Church will officiate,assisted by the Rev.Kenneth Blair of
Trinity Baptist Church at Haskell.Burial will be at Woodson Cemetery.
Born Dec.31,1941,at Gorman,he moved to Richardson in 1967 from Abilene.
He owned and operated Columbia Oil Field Supply Co.,in Dallas.He was a
member of Woodson Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Irving.

Willard Jewel Ridley,a rancher,carpenter,painter and Ft.Griffin
Fandangle regular,died Saturday,Sept.12,in Graham General Hospital. He
was 84. Services were held Tuesday,Sept.15,in the Merriman-Archer
Funeral Chapel in Throckmorton,with the Reverend A.B.Martin
officiating and the Reverend Darrell Martin assisting,under the
direction of Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.Burial was in Woodson
Cemetery. Mr.Ridley was born June 13,1914 in Rossville,Georgia to SAM
D.and MAGGIE TEASLEY RIDLEY. He came to Throckmorton at the age of
eleven with his parents,brother and two sisters. He attended school at
Weaver Pasture community and later at Throckmorton. He joined the CCC
(Civilian Conservation Corps)Camp and spent four years stationed at Ft.
Bliss,Texas,then he returned to Throckmorton after his discharge. Mr.
Ridley and SIBYL HARRIS were married November 12,1938 in Throckmorton.
They would have been married sixty years in November.Mr.and Mrs.Ridley
moved to Woodson about 1950. Mr.Ridley was in the Ft.Griffin Fandangle
for several years and never missed a show for ten years. He went with
the Fandangle to Lady Bird Johnson Ranch to raise money for a Memorial
for the late President Lyndon B.Johnson. Mr.Ridley worked for Lee
Atkinson on a ranch for several years and later became a self-employed
carpenter-painter. Mr.Ridley was a Baptist.He was preceded in death by
his parents,two sisters,and a granddaughter,KRISTI. Survivors include
his loving wife,SIBYL RIDLEY of Woodson;one daughter and son-in-law,
LINDA and JACKIE RHODES of Graham;one brother,ELMER RIDLEY of Junction
City,Kansas and three grandchildren.

the town of Lusk in Throckmorton County. Her parents were JAMES and
BESSIE(WALTON)ALLISON. She had lived in Throckmorton County most of
her life. She married THOMAS PARKER(T.P.)RILEY on Feb.24,1929 in
Throckmorton County. He preceded her in death on September 15,1982.
Mrs.Riley was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She
was preceded in death by 1 son,THOMAS JENE RILEY on June 9,1934,and
one grandson,RICHARD RILEY on October 1,1960. She is survived by her

Louise moved to Woodson from Muleshoe in July,1991. Louise worked as a
secretary for a cotton gin and at Allsups before retiring. She was a
homemaker. She was preceded in death by a step-son,WILL ROBERTS on May
10,1998 and 2 great-grandchildren. Survivors are her daughter;PAM DAY

a farmer,rancher and gas plant operator. He was a member of the Fort
Griffin Masonic Lodge #489. He was a member of the Woodson First
Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters,KERON LEE KINYON
of Racine,Wisconsin,PATRICIA ANN EDGAR of Breckenridge and CINDY
EDMISON of Rio Vista,Texas;one son,LARRY GENE ROBINSON of Breckenridge;
one brother,ELMO ROBINSON of Rockford,Illinois;nine grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one grandson,JASON
EDMISON on Nov.1,1994. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society,the American Heart Association or to the donor's favorite
charity and may be left at Melton Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be J.

Margaret Ilene Willingham Robinson,63,of Woodson,died Monday,August 23,
1993,at a Graham hospital. Services will be at 10a.m.Thursday,Aug.26,
at Woodson Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating.Burial will be in
the Woodson Cemetery,directed by Melton Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Mrs.Robinson was born October 18,1929 in Woodson and returned to
Woodson from Odessa in 1964. She married LEE SCOTT ROBINSON on June 12,
1948,in Breckenridge.She was a homemaker and a member of Woodson
Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband,SCOTT ROBINSON of
Woodson;three daughters,KERON LEE KINYON of Racine,Wisconsin,PATRICIA
ANN EDGAR of Breckenridge and CINDY EDMISON of Big Spring;one son,
LARRY GENE ROBINSON of Breckenridge;two brothers,ARLISS WILLINGHAM of

ROBINSON, Robert Maurice
Robert Maurice Robinson,65,died Monday in a Waco hospital.Memorial
services will be at 11a.m.Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with
Dr.Dan Sebasta officiating. Graveside services will be at 2p.m. at
Woodson Cemetery in Woodson,directed by McMillian-Satterwhite Funeral
Home. Mr.Robinson was born in Woodson and moved to Graham in 1988 from
Cincinnati. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church,a 32nd degree
Scottish Rite Mason,a Shriner and served in the U.S.Coast Guard during
World War II. Survivors include his wife,DORIS ROBINSON of Graham;two
sons,DON M.ROBINSON of Cincinnati and JOHN R.ROBINSON of Fort Myers,
Fla.;a daughter,SHERRY HUMPHREY of Arkansas City,Kan.;two brothers,
