Self May 12, 1929 - June 29, 2011 Doris Evelyn Self, 82, of Snyder Texas and longtime resident of Throckmorton, TX; passed away on June 29, 2011 in Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be from 6-7pm, Friday July 1, 2011 at Wright Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Ms. Self will be Saturday July 2, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Throckmorton at 10am, Texas with Pete Parker officiating and interment in the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home. Ms. Self was born on May 12, 1929 in Hog Creek, Texas. She married Bobby Self on May 16, 1946 in Throckmorton. Doris was a member of Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder and a Volunteer for Scurry County A.R.C. after retiring from a cable television office. After being born and raised in Throckmorton County, Doris moved to Graham in 1967, then on to Snyder in 1997 where she settled for the next 14 years. Doris enjoyed writing and reading poetry, spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, working in her garden, playing boardgames and cards. Ms. Self is survived by her daughter Jackie Doucette of Snyder, TX; Son & Daughter-in-law Billy and Kathy Self of Baird, TX; Son & Daughter-in-law Kent and Jennifer Self of Lubbock, TX; 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren; A sister-in-law Olivia Self of Ft. Worth, TX; Sister-In-Law Mauriine Pate of Granbury, TX; Several Nieces and Nephews. Doris was proceeded in death by her parents A.W. & Edna Stout, two sisters Mildred Thompson, and Dorothy Denham; Three brothers: J.W. Stout, Billy Burk Stout, and Glen Stout. |
