UPCHURCH, STANELY B - 1st. Lt. Stanley B. Upchurch, son of Mrs. C. P. Upchurch, Gilmer, husband of Elizabeth Guantt, Ardmore, Okla., graduate of East Mt. High. Entered Army Air Corps in 1939, trained at Scott Field, Ill. and Ft. Monmouth, N. J. Served in China-Burma- India Theater. Awarded Asiatic-Pacific and Amer. Theater Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal. Discharged in 1946.

VALENTINE E. C - S 2/c E. C. Valentine, son of Mrs. J. G. Valentine, East Mt., husband of Pat Craver, attended East Mt. High. Entered Navy in 1943, trained at San Diego, Calif. Served in American Theater.
VERNON, JOE TAYLOR - MM 3/c Joe Taylor Vernon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vernon, West Mt., attended Union Grove High. Entered Seabees in 1943, trained at Norfolk, Va., Rhode Island. Served in Guam, Saipan, and Okinawa.
VICK, GERALD F - Pfc. Gerald F. Vick, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Vick, Bettie, husband of Marcelle Arnold, attended Union Hill High. Entered Amry in 1942, trained at Camp Polk, La. and Ft. Ord, Calif. Served in S. Philippines and Okinawa. Awarded Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 2 Stars, Phil. Liberation Ribbon. Discharged in 1945.
VICK, HOMER E - Pfc. Homer E. Vick, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vick, Gilmer, husband of Deon Green, attended Forrest Hill High. Entered Army in 1942, trained at Camp Shelby, Miss. and Camp Coxcomb, Calif. Served in Italy, N. Apennines, Rhineland, Central Europe. Awarded European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal. Wounded in Italy, 1944. Discharged in 1945.
VICK, TRAVIS P - Pfc. Travis P. Vick, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vick, Gilmer, graduate of Union Hill High. Entered Army, 1941, trained at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Served in ETO, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, France, Rhineland, Cen. Europe. Awarded Campaign Ribbon with 7 Bronze Stars, 1 Bronze Arrowhead, Purple Heart, Amer. Defense Ribbon and Good Conduct Medals. Wounded in Germany, 1944. Discharged in 1945.
VIVIAN, B. B. (CHUB) - Cpl. B. B. (Chub) Vivian, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Vivian, Gilmer, husband of Marvel Stalle, attended Gilmer High. Entered Army Air Corps, 1942, trained at Ellington AAF Station and Aloe AAF Field, Texas. Discharged in 1945.
VIVIAN, TROY D - S/Sgt. Troy D. Vivian, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Vivian, Gilmer, gradaute of Gilmer High. Entered Army Air Corps, 1939, trained at Barksdale Field, La., 27th Tow Target Sqd., Demming N. M. Served in Puerto Rico 2 Years. Re-enlisted for 3 Years.
VIVIAN, WILLIAM ROLAND - Lt. William Roland Vivian, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Vivian, Gilmer, husband of Claudia Huckaby, attende ETSTC. Entered Navy in 1941, trained at Norfolk, Va. Served as Instructor in Physical Education for Naval Training School, Fisher Island, N. Y. Discharged in 1945.
