Comments: Seeking additional information on the father
of James Alvin Meecom. The family bible states that James Alvin was the
son of James and "Nannie" Meecom.(Nancy was referred to by this
name). James Alvin Meecom's mother married Malcom Buie Brooks in 1877
when James Alvin was only three years old. She was referred to on the
marriage license to Brooks as Mrs. Nannie Meecom. It is assumed that the
record of her marriage to Meecom perished in the courthouse fire. Nancy
came to Texas with her mother and stepfather John W. Evans and is on the
1870 Van Zandt
Co. census. Her brother Major John Brunner and his family is in the same
county also then on the census records.
