Alice Winkles passed from this life Feb. 16, 2006 at her home in Plains. Services will be a t 2 p . m . , Monday, Feb. 20, 2006 at the Plains First Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Harlan of Wolfforth officiating and Rev. Bill Wright of Plains assisting. Interment will follow in the Plains-Yoakum County Cemetery under the direction Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Plains. She was born in Clarke County, Mississippi, Sept. 1, 1912 to Charley and Tressie Tucker. She married Edgar (E.O.) Winkles in Terry County, Nov. 22, 1941. She and Edgar moved from Brownfield to Plains in 1957. They farmed and operated Winkles Grain and Fertilizer for a number of years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Plains and was baptized as a young girl in a creek in Blanco Canyon near Ralls. She worked in a sewing factory in Brownfield during the first part of World War II. She was a hardworking soul mate, homemaker, truck driver, farmer and office worker in Terry and Yoakum Counties most of her life.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby; her mother and daddy; a granddaughter, Patricia Jan McAnally of Littlefield; one sister, Mamie Reese of Ralls; three brothers Emmett Tucker of Brownfield, Thomas Tucker of Ralls and Allen (Dick ) Tucker of Belen, N.M.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Russell and Brad Martin, Jered and Jason Sellers and John Scott McAnally and a special friend, Shane Lowrey.

She is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Virginia and John McAnally of Littlefield, Georgia and Charles Martin of Redmond, WA; and Patsy (Winkles) and Hugo Sellers of Seminole; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Debra and Gary Moore of Tahoka; Linda and Doug Faquharson of Tulsa, Ok; Terri and Andy Potebnya of Lake Stevens, WA, Russell and Anna Martin of Scottsdale, AZ, Brad and Julie Martin of Sammamish, WA, John Scott and Alison McAnally, Jered and Kay Sellers and Jason and Lisa Sellers all of Lubbock; seventeen great-grandchildren, Shane and Jace Moore, Tyler, Jill and Andrew Faquharson, Emily and Megan McAnally, Kylee and Connor Potebnya, Brandon, Keelan, Olivia, Jesse, Kendall, and Marley Martin, Ashley, Steeli and Breawna Sellers; and one great great-grandson, Jordan Moore.
