Billie Faye (Thompson) Allen

19 Nov 1928 - 8 Mar 2006

Billie Faye Thompson was born on November 19, 1928, in Lorena, Texas, near Corsicana.

She was the daughter of Texie Hebel Thompson and Ulysses Grant Thompson and the sister of Ruby Mae, Kenneth, and Mary Earl Thompson.

Billie Faye lived in Corsicana until she was nine, but after the death of her mother and father, she and her brother were raised at Buckner Orphan's Home in Dallas. On a visit to her sister Mary in Denver City, Texas, Billie Faye observed a branding and fell instantly in love with one of the cowboys. The feeling was mutual. Billie Faye Allen and M.G. (Charles) Allen were married three weeks later, on June 14, 1947. Charles' cousin Wallace Anderson, the town sheriff, proceeded to handcuff the couple, letting them know they would be joined for life.  Charles and Billie Faye had three children, Cynthia Ann,  Deborah Faye and Daniel Grant.

Billie Faye loved animals. Once she talked Charles into letting her have a goat. After the goat climbed onto the coffee table, Charles took it back to the farm. There were always cats and dogs in the house and sometimes parakeets and fish. At one time there were over twenty cats living and eating well in the backyard. And it was the animals who comforted her at the end of her life. Her faithful cats Skipper and Angel slept on her bed. They would climb into her lap while she watched TV and Skipper, who was definitely a one-woman cat, always climbed onto the back of her recliner when she used her nebulizer. He must have thought she was purring. Billie Faye was also known as Mom or Nana to her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She could always be talked into giving the kids money to go to Sprouse Ritz and buy toys. She was always good for cokes, candy, and ice cream, since she always had an ample supply. Billie Faye faced many hardships in her life, but she had a strong, loving spirit that survived. She loved unconditionally her friends, her family, and all God's creatures.

In heaven, she is surrounded by dear family and friends, and she's sure to have her dogs and cats sitting with her. Memorial Service for Billie Faye will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Dr. at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Denver City Memorial Park in Denver City, TX on Monday, March 13, 2006, at 10 a.m.
