Ingleside, Texas
Ingleside or the Jeffrey Community was located west of Orth. The community was established by 1904 on the Silas Ridley "S.R." Jeffrey Ranch when the Wichita Falls and Southern Railroad was built. Originating around a stockyard for shipping cattle, the Ingleside community was active by the 1930's, with an attractive four teacher brick schoolhouse, a community band, a 20 member Baptist church, and an athletic field. S.R. Jeffrey came to Texas from his home in Ingleside, England. There were three Ingleside School locations over the years.
Nothing remains of this community today. |
