Cady Lore has three Cady brothers riding into a town. Where they were confronted by an Army officer and hus (Black) Sergeant demanding they surrender their guns. Somehow, a gun fight broke out and one of the brothers was killed along with the Office and Sergeant. Post Civil War the Union Army was in occupation until 1879.
After that Buffalo soldiers from the 9th and 10th Calvary were the only ones who fit the story. This would have made the brothers wanted men. Joseph Lee, (1863) William O (1867) Silas (1869) Erastus Loren Cady (1872) were likely after 1880 while they were in Hays County. Erastus died in 1895. There is also the possibility that cousins were involved.
