- Wilber A (Mutt) Freer
Mutt was born April 4, 1920 to Charles W. and Minnie Freer in San Diego, Texas. He passed away March 29, 2005 at the age of 84.
Growing up in Freer, Texas (a town named after his grandfather) Mutt was an outstanding athlete in high school excelling in football and track. In 1939 his family moved to a ranch in the Sandy Community just outside of Johnson City. There he met his loving wife Berniece Hunnicutt and they made their home on the ranch. Their marriage, of over 64 years, produced two sons Royce Dale and David Ray. Mutt was devoted to his family, a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Johnson City and when time allowed he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He had a witty sense of humor and loved pulling pranks on his wife, sons and nephews.
Mutt was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Arlie Freer of Forth Worth, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Berniece: son Dale of Johnson City: and son David and wife Karen, and grandson Jason of Johnson City. Granddaughters, Jennifer and her husband Patrick Demeester and great-grandson Caden of Celina, Texas: Nichole Wingo of Austin and Melanie Wingo of Austin. He leaves behind two sisters, Odell Starke and Myrtle McClendon both of Johnson City and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be make to the United Methodist Church in Johnson City or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Crofts Funeral Home with Brother Bill Wiemers officiating. Pallbearers are Jason Freer, Gary Freer, Jerry Sparkman, Dennis Sparkman, Robert Schmidt and Randy Sultemeier. Interment followed at the Round Mountain Cemetery.

Meribell Miller
Meribell Cox Miller was born to Nugent Cox and Emma Bruckner in Johnson City November 25, 1918.
She lived most of her life in Johnson City, loving the people and the country. The Bible has been her guidance for loving on God’s earth. When thing seemed to get her down and pressure of the world looked the blackest to her, she went to the Bible and found Psalm 23 (read) the song: Where he leads me I will follow.
Meribell is survived by three sons Elmo Miller, of Lake Travis; Glynn Miller and Llynn Miller both of Johnson City; one daughter Kay Christian of Austin a bother, Elmo Roy Cox one sister Fwinnefred Rosser both of Johnson City and one grandchild Zebulen Miller.
Children do not weep for me I am going to where I want to be, I’m going to where there’s no sorrow where there’s no disappoint of tomorrow. Children do not weep for me there’s a better life waiting you see. Don’t be so gloom Because God has for me a room. Read St. John 14 Meribell passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in Johnson City at the age of 86 years.
Services were held at Crofts Funeral home Thursday, march 31, 2005 with Brother Ernest Topper serving as Officiating Clergy. And interment followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City.

Dale Cook Crowder
Dale Cook Crowder went to be with the Lord and family that went before him on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. He was born in Ira, Texas in 1933 to Jack and Eloise Crowder. Dale married Gloria Marie Lee and they were married for 54 years. Dale was known to almost everyone as “Squirrel”, and was a jack-of-all-trades, from oil field worker to truck driver to road construction, carpentry and roofing. He retired from PPEC in 1995 and had been working for Cummings Road Construction until his death. His wife, Gloria, two sons Preston Rae and Roger Crowder, and a daughter Linda, Seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive him. He is also survived by a brother, Melvin Crowder.
It has been said many times that is not what happens on the date of your birth or the date of your death. But what you do with the dash in between.
Squirrel (Dale) enjoyed his life with his family and friends and his dash will be filled with many stories from family and friends who shared in his joy of life.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at their home to remember and share some of these stories. He donated his body to science to help promote research for lung disorder and diseases.

Ima Wolf Lengefeld
Ima Wolf Lengefeld, 86, a resident of Johnson City and former resident of Corpus Christi, passed away Friday, April 1, 2005 in Johnson City Medical Center after a long illness. She was preceded in death by husband John R. Lengefeld, parents Mercer and Addie Wolf, brother Adolph, Kenneth and Jay Wolf and son-in-law J. Quentin Pope.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Cheryl Lengefeld and her daughter Deborah L. Pope, all of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Danna Lengefeld of Las Cruces, New Mexico, John Lengefeld of Austin, Texas, Leah Pope Blevins (Scott) of Kerrville, Texas, Timothy Pope (Jennifer), of San Antonio, Texas and Matthew Pope of Corpus Christi, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Libby Lengefeld and Zachary, Abigail and Eden Blevins; sister, Buna McKinnon of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lengefeld moved from San Antonio to Corpus Christi in 1964 where she became an executive secretary for Del Mar College. Upon retirement from Del Mar College in 1980, she moved with her husband to Johnson City.
Before her illness, she was active in the First Baptist Church of Johnson City.
A private family graveside service was held Monday, April 4, 2005 in the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery, Johnson City, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family request gifts to be made to the recreation Ministry of First Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas, Del Mar College Scholarship Fund, Del Mar College, Corpus Christi Texas or the charity of their choice.
